Weather Update
Brought to you from the National Weather Forecasting Centre in Nadi, at the late hour of 11:00 pm on Tuesday, April 22, 2025.
Hold onto your hats, everyone! The weather for the Fijian islands is looking quite pleasant, with only a few brief showers attempting to crash the outdoor party, particularly over southeastern Viti Levu (yes, we’re looking at you, Serua-Namosi, Navua-Suva-Nausori) along with parts of Southern Bua and the enchanting Cakaudrove provinces, plus Lau and Lomaiviti groups, and Kadavu and its little buddies nearby.
Elsewhere, expect a largely sunny affair, but keep your umbrellas nearby just in case the sun decides to take a snooze in the afternoon or evening. Our crystal ball also hints at a potential thunderstorm or two crashing the Viti Levu party, especially in the eastern regions, so perhaps keep those dance moves ready just in case.
Winds are behaving moderately from the southeast and the seas are temperate too. Sounds like perfect sailing conditions, though you might want to avoid getting caught in a squall!
Looking ahead to Thursday: expect a bit more cloud cover along with those pesky brief showers in places like Serua-Namosi, Navua-Suva-Nausori, and a few others. They might come and go faster than guests at a buffet – leaving behind only the memory of their hazy presence.
For those in Navua, Suva, and Nausori: it’s all sunshine and smiles, with just a smattering of showers expected to make a cameo. The same goes for Sigatoka and the Coral Coast – you might encounter an isolated shower or two, but overall, it’s looking fine!
Over in Nadi, Lautoka, and Ba: it’s all good vibes with possibly a sprinkle of afternoon or evening showers. Fair warning: your laundry might experience an unexpected rinse!
Tavua and Rakiraki are in for similar weather, while Natadradave and Korovou might see some brief showers. Thunderstorms might also join the frey – don’t forget the popcorn; it’s quite a show!
In the Yasawa and Mamanuca group: perfect beach weather, apart from those pesky pop-up showers.
Labasa folks can expect a fine day, though keep an eye out for that afternoon thunder drama. Savusavu, too, can expect some brief spits of rain, with thunderstorms feeling a bit flashy.
As for Lau and Lomaiviti islands: the forecast brings some fine weather and a few showers, while Kadavu promises more of the same.
Now, if you find yourself in Rotuma: a weak trough of low pressure is hanging around, bringing some occasional showers and a light show of isolated thunderstorms. Moderate northeasterly winds will keep things breezy, but be wary of the seas getting a bit choppy!
So there you have it – a brief weather rollercoaster that keeps you guessing! Enjoy the day, and don’t forget to wear your sunblock (and maybe your boots, just in case)!
