Weather Bulletin
Good day to you, weather enthusiasts! It’s your friendly neighborhood meteorologist here, bringing you the latest scoop on what to expect from our moody skies. Buckle up, because Mother Nature is staging a dramatic performance this week!
As we kick off the weekend, there’s a low pressure trough showing off its cloud and shower skills just east of Fiji. Meanwhile, another pressure trough is hanging around just south of our beloved island group, proving that sometimes, two’s company and three’s a crowd — especially in the world of weather!
So, what’s in store for the Fiji group until midnight tomorrow? Expect some overcast skies and showers over delightful destinations like Kadavu, Lau, and Lomaiviti, and the eastern half of Viti Levu (yes, we’re talking about Navua, Suva, Nausori, Tailevu, Naitasiri, and the interior of Ra). Let’s not forget Vanua Levu either, specifically Cakaudrove and southern Bua province, who will also be joining the rain party!
Hold onto your umbrellas! Isolated thunderstorms with heavy downpours are likely, especially as the sun sets and the clouds get a little feistier. If you’re in a low-lying area or somewhere that turns into a lake at the first drop of rain, keep an eye out for surface runoff, or you might find yourself in a spontaneous swimming event!
On to Tuesday’s forecast! Expect occasional showers over Kadavu, Lau, the eastern half of Viti Levu, and parts of Vanua Levu, along with those charming afternoon thunderstorms that seem to enjoy crashing the party. The rest of us can expect sun (yay!) to be interrupted by, you guessed it, some more showers and heavy falls.
For our urban dwellers in Navua, Suva, and Nausori: Get ready for some clouds and showers, and don’t be surprised if you see a thunderstorm trying to steal the show in the afternoon.
If you’re in the Nadi, Lautoka, or Ba region, enjoy the fine weather, but don’t forget that afternoon and evening showers might pop in uninvited!
In Sigatoka and along the Coral Coast, enjoy fine weather until the clouds decide to throw a surprise afternoon shower or thunderstorm — so keep your raincoat handy!
For you folks in Tavua and Rakiraki: Looks like you’ll be nice and dry until the clouds threaten to rain on your parade in the afternoons.
The Yasawa/Mamanuca folks are also set for a picturesque day with the occasional surprise shower later on.
Labasa, you’re on the same page, gearing up for fine weather, but don’t let your guard down as those afternoon showers may make an appearance.
Savusavu, get ready for a partly cloudy day, with some afternoon showers and thunderstorms, just to keep things lively!
Now, for our friends in Lau and Lomaiviti, expect a little drama with showers and thunderstorms. And Kadavu? Clouds and showers will be gracing you too.
Lastly, for Rotuma, the easterly winds keep things moderately fine, but stay alert for some potential cloud cover and showers creeping in on Tuesday.
That’s all the weather gossip for now! Keep those umbrellas close and your spirits high!
