Fiji Weather Forecast: Easterly Winds Bring Showers Across Islands; Weekend Outlook with Isolated Thunderstorms and Rotuma Strong Wind Warning

Weather Alert

Time to check your umbrellas and sunscreen! It’s that exciting time of year again when Fiji’s weather decides to show off its skills. Currently, we’re being graced with some breezy easterly winds. Meanwhile, a playful trough hanging out to the northeast is making its way southeast, bringing a touch of moisture to our beloved island paradise starting Saturday. Put on your raincoats but keep your flip-flops handy!

Here’s the forecast until midnight tomorrow for the Fiji group:

We’re looking at generally fine weather, with just a few sultry showers crashing the party over the interior and eastern areas of Macuata, Southern Bua, Cakaudrove (yes, including our pal Taveuni), as well as parts of Viti Levu where they have no shortage of rain—specifically from Serua-Namosi through Navua-Suva-Nausori and up to Tailevu North. Lau and Lomaiviti groups might see some rain too, but the rest can flaunt their sun-kissed days without worry. Expect moderate to fresh easterly winds; it’s like the wind is practicing for a marathon! Just a heads-up: the seas are a bit rough earlier, but they’ll calm down later today, so ease off on that surfboard for now.

Now, let’s look at Saturday’s forecast: We’ve got cloudy periods rolling in with a few isolated showers. The same locations in Macuata, Cakaudrove, and eastern Viti Levu are expected to see some action, while the rest of Fiji might enjoy isolated afternoon sprinkles, with a chance of a thunderstorm—so keep your lightning dance moves at the ready! Moderate winds will continue to dance along the coast; the seas may still be moderate to rough.

Let’s break down the local forecasts:

For Navua / Suva / Nausori:
Prepare for mostly fine weather with a few brief showers. Today might peak at a cozy 30 degrees. Tomorrow’s lows will hover at a balmy 24, with highs back up to 30. Saturday gives a repeat performance of cloudy periods and showers!

For Sigatoka/Coral Coast:
The sun is shining bright, with highs hitting 30 today and a warm 31 tomorrow after a cool night at 22. Saturday looks to join in on the fun with some isolated afternoon showers!

For Nadi / Lautoka / Ba:
It’s feeling just fine, as we hit a sizzling 33 today and a similar vibe tomorrow. The only hiccup might be some showers on Saturday! Pack an umbrella for the thunderbolts since we’re rolling with those too!

For Tavua/Rakiraki:
It’s nothing but sunshine today, peaking at a pleasant 32. Tomorrow will offer a gentle reminder with lows at 23 and highs at 33. Saturday? Same theme with a flair of afternoon drizzles and possibly a thunderstorm.

For Natadradave/Korovou:
Mostly fine, with a lovely high of 30 degrees. Tomorrow night should be a cool 23, followed by 31 degrees by day. Saturday may feature a few clouds and showers—who doesn’t love a bit of dramatic flair in the weather?

For the Yasawa/Mamanuca group:
Same sunny story here with highs of 32 today, dipping to 23 tomorrow with a repeat for Saturday.

For Labasa:

For Kadavu:
It’s going to be primarily fine with a warm 31 today and 22 at night. The weekend will have those cheeky afternoon showers trying to mix things up.

And finally, for the adventurous folks in Rotuma:
A strong wind warning is on for you, with nature trying to show its wild side. Winds between 20 to 25 knots will ease tomorrow, but do expect some clouds and brief showers—don’t forget your life jackets if heading out to sea!

So there you have it, folks! Stay prepared, keep hydrated, and enjoy whatever the weather throws at you over the next few days!
