Weather Update from the National Weather Forecasting Centre, Nadi
Issued at 3:30 PM on this delightful Wednesday, March 4, 2026
Current Situation: A beloved trough of low pressure has decided to hang out with us for a while. It’s brought along some clouds and a sprinkling of showers, doing its best to put a dampener on our day until later this evening.
Forecast Until Midnight Tomorrow for the Fiji Group:
Today: It’s a cloud-loving kind of day, especially for those in the western half of Viti Levu, the Yasawa and Mamanuca group, Kadavu, and the southern Lau group. Expect some short, fleeting showers that are more like a gentle reminder of what rain feels like. As the sun sets, showers will start to throw more of a party with occasional heavy bursts and maybe even some rambunctious thunderstorms deciding to crash in.
Tomorrow: More of the cloudy shenanigans are on the menu, particularly for the star regions including Serua-Namosi, Navua-Suva-Nausori, and the southern Bua among others. But don’t fret, because fine weather may pop up here and there, with afternoon or evening showers likely to gatecrash again. Expect some thunderous applause over Viti Levu and Vanua Levu, and be careful of potential party favors like local heavy rain leading to flash flooding in the low-lying areas.
Those northeasterly winds will stick around, but they’ll be adopting a more easterly demeanor later in the day. Moderate seas, so get your sea legs ready!
Outlook for Friday: More cloud cover and showers looking to make an encore performance over the usual suspects: Serua-Namosi, Navua-Suva-Nausori, among others. A tad bit of fine weather can be expected in between the rain’s adventures. Thunderstorms are expected to once again take the stage over Viti Levu and Vanua Levu, with the possibility of heavy falls.
