Fiji Weather Forecast: Cloudy with Showers and Thunderstorms Expected Across the Islands

Weather Update Alert!

Issued from the National Weather Forecasting Centre Nadi at 3:30 PM on Wednesday, March 5, 2025.

Here’s the scoop: A sluggish trough of low pressure is lounging east of Fiji like it’s on a permanent vacation. Meanwhile, a pleasantly moist northwesterly wind is blowing its way through the Northern and Eastern divisions like it just discovered the joys of a cool breeze. In the rest of Fiji, it’s more of a laid-back southwest wind flow.

Now, let’s dive into the forecast for the Fiji group until midnight tomorrow: Expect some cloudy spells accompanied by fleeting showers over the fabulous Macuata, Northern Bua, Yasawa, Lau, and Lomaiviti groups. The rest of you in Serua-Namosi, Sigatoka, Nadi-Lautoka-Ba, Tavua-Rakiraki, Interior Ba, and cozy little islands of Kadavu and Mamanuca can enjoy clear skies, with just a dab of brief showers here and there. But beware! Some showers will batch up and spread across most regions starting later today.

Hold onto your hats because we’re expecting moderate to fresh southwest to northwest winds and some moderate to rough seas. So, if you’re planning to get out on the water, maybe bring a life jacket… and a good book.

Now, what does Friday have in store for us? Well, it seems like it’s planning on being a little moody with more cloudy periods and some showers throwing a tantrum, possibly featuring isolated thunderstorms for extra drama. And yes, the winds will still be hanging around, keeping things fresh.

For specific locations:
– Navua / Suva / Nausori: The sun’s keeping it together for now, but expect random afternoon or evening showers; a proper shower party starts later today.
– Nadi / Lautoka / Ba: Look for fine weather with quick showers; it likes to keep things brief around here.
– Sigatoka/Coral Coast, Tavua/Rakiraki: Same tune – staying fine apart from quick showers; don’t forget your umbrellas, they might just come in handy!
– Yasawa/Mamanuca group: You’ll see some clouds with on-and-off showers, just keeping it interesting.
– Labasa and Lau / Lomaiviti: Cloudy with a chance of showers; take this as a signal to break out the cozy blankets.
– Savusavu: Remains sunny for the most part, but get ready for some rain later on.
– Kadavu: We’re keeping it fine with just hints of brief showers before getting cloudy on Friday.

And for our friends over in Rotuma: An active convergence zone sounds fancy, doesn’t it? But it’s really just bringing you some heavy rain and a few thunderstorms. So, keep those umbrellas and rain boots handy!

Get ready for the weather rollercoaster, folks! Enjoy the ride while keeping an eye out for those sneaky showers!
