Fiji Weather Forecast: Cloudy With Showers and Thunderstorms Across Islands, Isolated Heavy Falls and Flash Flood Risk

Weather Update

Greetings from your trusty weather comrades at the National Weather Forecasting Centre! Brace yourselves, as we have a bit of a weather rollercoaster ahead for Fiji!

Currently, we have a weak trough of low pressure that’s decided to stick around like that friend who overstays their welcome – it might move out later tonight, but for now, it’s still hanging out. Meanwhile, there’s another rebellious trough heading in from the west, but don’t worry too much; it’s also expected to pack up and leave before the weekend. In the meantime, we’re being treated to a moist easterly wind flow, a perfect recipe for some rainfall and a little bit of drama!

Forecast until midnight tomorrow for our lovely islands:

Today: Get ready for cloudy skies and some showers especially over parts of Macuata, Southern Bua, Cakaudrove, and the eastern wonderland of Taveuni. Basically, if you’re near the interior and eastern bits of Viti Levu or the delightful islands that surround us, you might want to keep that umbrella handy! Other than that, expect a few scattered thunderstorms this afternoon – think of them as nature’s way of adding a little pizzazz to your day!

Tomorrow: The cloud cover will continue to live its best life, with brief showers making a cameo appearance across the same regions. It looks like the rain will want to stick around, but just for a quick hello! Moderate winds will keep you cool, and watch out for the seas that might get a bit rough – who knew the ocean could be such a drama queen?

Now, let’s take a look at the localized forecasts:

For Navua/Suva/Nausori: Expect some clouds and showers, but don’t fret – things might ease up to a light drizzle from tomorrow! Temperatures will hover between a cozy 22°C and a balmy 28°C.

For Nadi/Lautoka/Ba: Thunderstorms might want to crash your party today, leading to potential heavy rainfall. That said, tomorrow looks a tad more optimistic with just a few brief showers. As for temps, we’re looking at a lovely range of 22°C to a sizzling 31°C.

For our beach lovers in Sigatoka/Coral Coast: You’re in for a bit of a wild ride with those thunderstorms today, but it looks like a softer aftermath for tomorrow with brief showers on the agenda. Expect highs around 30°C.

For Tavua/Rakiraki: Similar story here; today’s thunderstorms want your attention, but tomorrow’s forecast looks to be a little less dramatic! Rates will be between 22°C and 31°C.

And for others in the Yasawa/Mamanuca group, Labasa, Savusavu, and everywhere else mentioned? You’ll want to keep an eye on the forecast for those cloudy periods with intermittent showers starting today, easing off tomorrow.

Oh, and don’t forget Rotuma! It’s a little shy today but will bring some showers later. Expect temps between 24°C and 30°C.

Hang on to your umbrellas, folks! It’s going to be a rather wet and wild ride, but remember, sunshine always follows the rain.
