Weather Update

Issued from the National Weather Forecasting Centre Nadi at 7:23am on Sunday, December 28, 2025

So here’s the scoop for today: a weak trough of low pressure is throwing a bit of a cloud party over the eastern parts of our beautiful islands, and it’s got some showers and isolated thunderstorms invited. Meanwhile, our friends, the moist east to northeast winds, are hanging around like that extra guest who just won’t leave.

For the Fiji group, expect cloudy periods with a chance of showers and those friendly neighborhood thunderstorms over places like Serua-Namosi, Navua-Suva-Nausori, Tailevu-Naitasiri-Ra, Eastern Macuata, Southern Bua, Cakaudrove, Taveuni, and nearby islands, as well as the Lau and Lomaiviti groups and Kadavu. So if you spot an umbrella flying by, it’s probably trying to avoid the rain.

Now, elsewhere, it might be fine, but don’t get too cozy. Afternoon or evening showers and isolated thunderstorms are lurking like surprise guests at a gathering, ready to shake things up. Winds will be moderate to fresh – just enough to send a light breeze your way, unless you’re caught in one of those heavy downpours.

Outlook for Monday: More of the same, folks! A few more showers and thunderstorms are planning to crash the cloud fest over the same spots. Make sure to have your flood insurance in order if you live in low-lying areas, just in case mother nature decides to get a little dramatic.
