Weather Update
Issued from the National Weather Forecasting Centre Nadi at 7:30pm on Thursday, October 16, 2025
Southeast winds are getting cozy over the country, like a cat on a warm laptop. Meanwhile, a rather lazy trough of low pressure up north is shuffling its way south and bringing some extra pep to those easterly winds starting tomorrow.
Forecast to keep you entertained until midnight tomorrow for the Fiji group: Expect cloud cover with some showers playing peek-a-boo in the Interior and eastern regions of Viti Levu (a fancy way to say from Serua-Namosi through Navua-Suva-Nausori all the way to Tailevu North), Southern Bua, Cakaudrove including Taveuni and its little pals, Kadavu and the nearby islands, plus Lau and Lomaiviti groups. Showers are set to become the main theme later tomorrow, featuring possible isolated heavy moments and some thunderstorm jazz.
Elsewhere, it’s looking fine, with just a chance of a solo shower or two in the afternoon or evening, perfect for capturing that elusive rainbow. Moderate southeast winds will be blowing and may act fresh occasionally, much like a well-meaning relative who thinks they can fix everything. Prepare for moderate seas—ideal for tossing a few seashells, but maybe keep the yacht trip for another day!
Looking ahead to Saturday: Occasional showers with the potential for heavy splashes and more thunderstorm theatrics in those same eastern places and the Interior. The rest of us will have a fine day with only minimal rain drama, just a sprinkle here and there. Winds will remain moderately southeast, and those seas might get just a tad rougher.
