Weather Update
Brought to you directly from the National Weather Forecasting Centre Nadi, at a very reasonable 7:30pm on Friday, October 24, 2025.
Situation: Hold onto your hats, folks! Our old friend, the moist easterly wind is making a grand entrance over the country. Meanwhile, we have a low-pressure trough from the north that seems to be landing the role of the uninvited guest at our weather party, bringing along some pesky clouds and showers, particularly for our northern and eastern pals this Sunday.
Forecast until Midnight: Expect a bit of a cloudy mood over the interior and eastern regions, like Macuata, Southern Bua, and Cakaudrove, alongside the enchanting Eastern parts of Taveuni and its smaller island cousins. Also on the list are the interior and eastern areas of Viti Levu (that’s Serua-Namosi to Tailevu North) plus Kadavu and nearby islands. We might experience some brief showers – think of them as nature’s version of confetti. Elsewhere, you might catch some afternoon or evening sprinkles, with the possibility of an isolated thunderstorm or two (cue dramatic music). Winds will be moderate from the east, potentially putting a little pep in your step, and seas will remain moderate as well.
Spotlight on Sunday: More clouds rolling in, with showers expected and a few isolated thunderstorms that could be bringing some heavy rain to the interior and eastern regions of Viti Levu, along with Southern Bua and Cakaudrove. It sounds fancy, but it’s just the weather trying to show off! Elsewhere, partly cloudy with afternoon or evening showers might occur, accompanied by the dramatic “lightning and thunder” duo (which is always a crowd-pleaser). Don’t forget to keep your umbrella close, as we might see some isolated heavy falls leading to flash flooding in low-lying or flood-prone areas. Winds continue from the east, and seas are still doing their moderate thing.
