Weather Update
Issued from the National Weather Forecasting Centre Nadi at 5:30am on Saturday, March 7, 2026
It’s another day of “the great mix and match” with Mother Nature, as she has draped the Fiji group in a cozy blanket of moist easterly winds. Grab your umbrellas and your sun hats – you might need both!
Today’s Forecast (valid until midnight): Expect cloudy spells with some brief showers trying to sneak in over Serua-Namosi, Navua-Suva-Nausori, Tailevu-Naitasiri-Ra, Southern Bua, Cakaudrove, eastern Macuata, Taveuni, and some of the nearby smaller islands we often forget about. The Lau and Lomaiviti groups, and Kadavu, will also get in on the action.
Fear not, if you find yourself outside of these areas, you might just bask in fine weather, with only the occasional afternoon or evening shower. But hold on to your hats, because Viti Levu and Vanua Levu are bracing for some afternoon or evening thunderstorms that could unleash heavy downpours. Localized heavy falls may even lead to flash flooding in those low-lying areas. So, think twice before planning that leisurely stroll in the puddles!
The winds will be moderate and easterly, while seas might get a bit choppy. Remember, don’t bring a spoon to a wave fight!
Sunday Outlook: Spoiler alert! Just like today, clouds will dominate the sky with brief showers in the same aforementioned areas. Elsewhere, enjoy moments of sunshine, with a little drama in the form of thunderstorms and heavy falls later in the day.
