Weather Update
Issued from the National Weather Forecasting Centre Nadi at 10:45 am on Wednesday, March 4, 2026
So, here’s the scoop: There’s a pesky low-pressure trough hovering around our lovely islands, bringing along its entourage of clouds and showers that just can’t seem to leave. Don’t worry though, I promise they’ll ease up later today—like that friend who keeps talking about their cats.
Here’s what you can expect for the Fiji group today and tomorrow:
Today:
It’s going to be a bit cloudy, especially on the western half of Viti Levu, Yasawa and Mamanuca groups, Kadavu, and surrounding smaller islands—basically, all the spots where you might want to be lounging yet still have time to dodge raindrops. This morning may bring some light showers, but come afternoon, expect occasional heavy showers and a few surprise thunderstorms—but hey, nothing spices up a lazy afternoon like a good thunderclap, right? Moderate winds are blowing from the north, and the seas are moderate, so keep those sea legs ready.
Tomorrow:
Brace yourselves for another cloudy day in Serua-Namosi, Navua-Suva-Nausori, Tailevu-Naitasiri-Ra, Southern Bua, Cakaudrove, Taveuni, and neighboring smaller islands—basically, if you live near these places, you should probably have your umbrellas handy. Meanwhile, let’s not forget about Viti Levu and Vanua Levu, where afternoon thunderstorms might decide to join the party, possibly bringing some heavy rain. Just make sure your outdoor plans are indoors if you can! Winds will start off from the northeast, shifting to the east—like they’re just trying to keep things interesting.
Outlook for Friday:
It looks like cloud cover will stay strong throughout the islands, with a sprinkle here and there—don’t put that umbrella away just yet. Afternoon and evening thunderstorms will again make a bit of noise, especially over Viti Levu and Vanua Levu, with heavy falls possibly leading to some local flash flooding.
