Weather Alert – Time to grab your umbrellas and maybe a floatie or two!

This morning, a cheeky little trough of low pressure has decided to settle over the eastern parts of our beloved nation. As a result, expect a rather splashy day ahead with cloud and showers raining on the eastern and northern parts of Fiji until late tonight.

Here’s the skinny on the forecast for the whole Fiji group until midnight: We’re in for cloudy periods, with some showers and a dash of isolated thunderstorms, complete with heavy downpours that might just make you rethink your plans. If you’re in the Northern Division, Lau, Lomaiviti, Kadavu, or near Navua-Suva-Nausori, stay hydrated and maybe keep a towel handy!

On the flip side, if you’re elsewhere, enjoy relatively fine weather, apart from the occasional afternoon/evening shower and maybe an impromptu storm that has a flair for the dramatic—think heavy falls that might just bring out the inner water-lover in you! But do stay vigilant, as localised heavy rainfall could lead to flash flooding in low-lying areas, meaning your morning jog might turn into a swim!

Looking ahead to Tuesday, more of the cloudy shenanigans continue. Expect showers over areas like Serua-Namosi, Navua-Suva-Nausori, and other friendly faces including Lau and Lomaiviti, while the sunshine will sneak through in between—talk about playing hard to get!

For the local weather sweet spots, here’s what you can expect:

– Navua / Suva / Nausori: Cloudy, a little shower action, and maybe some thunder to keep things spicy. Today: Min: 25, Max: 32.
– Natadradave/Korovou: Similar vibes, clouded and a sprinkle of thunderstorms. Today: Min: 25, Max: 32.
– Sigatoka/Coral Coast: Looking pretty fine, but don’t be surprised by those pesky afternoon showers. Today: Min: 24, Max: 33.
– Nadi / Lautoka / Ba: Sunshine’s playing coy, so expect sunny spells and those dramatic thunderstorms later on. Today: Min: 24, Max: 34.
– Yasawa/Mamanuca group: Getting a good share of clouds and occasional showers. Today: Min: 25, Max: 31.
– Taveuni, Labasa, Savusavu, and others: Shower party is expected, keep your raincoats nearby! Today: Min: 25, Max: 32.

For our friends in Rotuma, the day will bring about occasional showers accompanied by isolated thunderstorms, with northeasterly winds adding a bit of a thrill. Today: Min: 25, Max: 30.

And there you have it! Weather whims and showers galore: grab a book, cozy up, or go for a swim if you’re feeling adventurous. Just remember to keep that umbrella close!
