Weather Alert: Fijian Forecast, for Those Who Can’t Predict a Rain Cloud
Issued from the National Weather Forecasting Centre in Nadi at 3:30pm on the fabulous Monday, 20th January 2025
Here’s your scoop on the weather in the Fiji group, where the skies will play peek-a-boo with clouds and rain. Expect some sultry showers to crash the party over Navua, Suva, Nausori, Tailevu, Ra, Naitasiri, eastern Macuata, Cakaudrove, northern Bua, Taveuni, and the neighboring petite islands, along with the Lau and Lomaiviti groups.
For the rest of you dreamers elsewhere, things will look shiny – at least until you step outside, as afternoon or evening showers might turn the sunbathing into rain dancing! And don’t forget your umbrellas, because we could also welcome some dramatic afternoon or evening thunderstorms, ready to bring heavy falls like they just received a prize at a rain-off!
Weather will be breezy with moderate northeasterly winds keeping you on your toes, and the seas will be moderate too—perfect for a joyride with the waves or hoping they won’t splash your lunch!
Fast forward to Wednesday: More of the same! The clouds will continue their masquerade over Navua-Suva-Nausori and surrounding areas with showers vying for attention, while other regions will bask in fine weather—until they too catch that afternoon or evening shower bug. Thundershowers will be making their much-anticipated guest appearance, thanks to the heavy falls that could turn any low-lying area into an unexpected water feature.
Let’s break it down for specific spots:
For Navua/Suva/Nausori: Expect a romantic date with clouds and some showers, spiced up by stormy afternoons and evenings.
For Nadi/Lautoka/Ba: Sunshine will try to steal the show, but let’s not get too cozy—the odd shower will gatecrash our plans!
For Sigatoka/Coral Coast: Fine weather will linger, but those stormy guests may decide to pop in for tea.
For Tavua/Rakiraki: Some clouds and showers are on the horizon, but Rakiraki will be extra special with electric afternoons and heavy falls.
For Yasawa/Mamanuca: Sunbathers gather while scattered showers predict a potential rain dance!
For Labasa and Savusavu: Thunderstorms are likely to join the shower party—don’t forget your raincoats!
For Lau and Lomaiviti: Party starts with cloudy periods and showers, capped off with a bang from afternoon thunderstorms.
For Kadavu: Fine weather is still in the spotlight, with some afternoon drama expected.
For Rotuma: A fierce northeasterly wind beckons, along with expected showers and thunderstorms, leaving us any semblance of normalcy in question.
Outlook for Wednesday: The encore will feature clouds, brief showers, and the usual atmospheric theatrics.
Stay dry, but if you don’t, dance like everyone is watching!
