Weather Update
From the National Weather Forecasting Centre Nadi
Reported at 3:30 PM on Saturday, December 13, 2025
Attention all weather enthusiasts (and those who just want to avoid turning into soggy noodles)! We have an official Heavy Rain Alert in effect for the entire Fiji Group. Yes, it’s the kind of weather that might have you questioning whether you should invest in an ark!
The culprit? A pesky trough of low pressure that seems hell-bent on keeping us under its cloudy and rainy thumb for the week ahead.
So what can you expect before we greet Monday morning? Here’s the breakdown:
– Rain? You bet! Occasional downpours, heavy enough to make you reconsider your choice of footwear, are likely over the interior and northern parts of Vanua Levu (think Bua and Labasa). If you’re in Viti Levu, expect a splash zone over Momi, Nadi, and Lautoka too.
– Thunderstorms are also expected, particularly in the afternoons. So, if you hear some rumbling, it might be Mother Nature practicing her stand-up comedy routine.
– Remember to keep an eye out for flash flooding, especially in the low-lying areas that might be tempted to take a little swim.
– Winds will be moderate, with a hint of mischief in the form of fresh gusts. The seas? Well, they might be feeling a bit rough too—surf’s up, right?
Here’s a sneak peek at what’s coming for specific areas tomorrow and beyond:
– **Navua/Suva/Nausori**: Rain likely to make an appearance, especially in the afternoons, rise to 28°C—perfect for that adventurous, wet-weather look!
– **Nadi/Lautoka/Ba**: Occasional heavy rain and thunderstorms will mark your day. Get your umbrellas ready as temperatures should hit 29°C.
– **Sigatoka/Coral Coast**: Expect the rain dance to be joined by a few thunderstorms. Today’s highs? A cool 27°C.
– **Yasawa/Mamanuca Group & Labasa**: Rainy antics will be happening, with highs around 29°C.
– **Taveuni and Kadavu**: Same great rain, comically heavy at times—with temps peeking around 29°C.
And for those of you in Rotuma, it seems you’ll join the party with some heavy rain and thunderstorms as well, aiming for a steamy 29°C.
So, pack the raincoat, grab the umbrella, and maybe put on those wellies you’ve been saving for a rainy day—because it looks like they’ll finally get their moment of glory! Stay safe and try to enjoy those delectable puddles!
