Fiji Weather Bulletin: Tuesday 21 October 2025 – Strong Wind Warning for Eastern Coastal Areas with Easterly Winds up to 45 km/h, Heavy Rain and Flood Risk

Weather Update
Brought to you by the National Weather Forecasting Centre in Nadi at the bright and early hour of 5:30 am on this delightful Tuesday, October 21, 2025.

Hold onto your hats, folks! A STRONG WIND WARNING is still blowing through the coastal areas of Kadavu and its adorable little neighbors, the eastern half of Viti Levu (from Sigatoka to Navua and all the way up to Korovou — yes, Rakiraki too), the eastern side of Taveuni, and our charming friends in Vanua Levu. This includes the Yasawa, Lau, and Lomaiviti groups. In other words, if you think you can stand outside without a good grip, think again!

What’s going on? Well, it seems a mischievous trough of low pressure has decided to pay us a visit, bringing along some clouds and rain as its plus-ones. It’s drifting south, and we’ll be feeling its effects for a few days. Just a typical party crasher, really!

What’s on the agenda until midnight? Expect easterly winds hitting up to 45 km/hr in the mentioned coastal areas—perfect for kites, but maybe not so much for hat-wearing and umbrella-sporting. The winds will be fresh in other places too, gusting with a sense of drama, especially over rough seas.

Rain? Oh, it’s making its grand entrance with occasional showers, and let’s not forget those isolated thunderstorms that just love to crash the party. Expect particularly joyous heavy falls over parts of Vanua Levu, Taveuni, and even the interior and eastern areas of Viti Levu (think Serua-Namosi through Navua-Suva-Nausori, ugh, that’s a mouthful), as well as Kadavu and company.

Keep your eye out for some isolated heavy falls that could lead to flash flooding. So if you live in low-lying areas, it might be time to gather your floaties!

Looking ahead to Wednesday: more of the same! Showers will be playing peek-a-boo, with the possibility of isolated heavy falls and, yes, thunderstorms. The heavy falls may leave some areas looking like they’ve had a bit too much to drink—watch out for those flood-prone spots!

Just to give you the low-down:
For Navua/Suva/Nausori: Expect rain with some thunder, because who doesn’t love a little dramatic flair in their weather? Min: 22, Max: 28.
For Nadi/Lautoka/Ba: Partly cloudy with possible afternoon showers and thunderstorms. Min: 22, Max: 30.
For Sigatoka/Coral Coast: Cloudy periods are bringing their umbrella, along with possible heavy afternoon showers and thunderstorms. Min: 22, Max: 30.
For Tavua/Rakiraki: Occasional rain with applause-worthy thunderstorms in Rakiraki. Min: 22, Max: 30.
And for our friends across various regions: expect a similar saga of occasional rain and isolated thunderstorms, always keeping us on our toes!

On to Rotuma: Now, things for you might be a bit calmer. Fine weather with only brief showers, but don’t let your guard down. Min: 23, Max: 32 tomorrow!

Stay inside or secure your outdoor items, because nature has definitely decided to shake things up! And remember, if you get wet, just think of it as a free shower!
