Situation: It seems our dear islands are cozying up to a couple of low pressure troughs—one sneaking in from the southwest and another lounging lazily over us like it’s enjoying a tropical vacation.

Forecast until midnight: Get ready for a game of “Guess That Shower!” Occasional showers are on the menu, with some locations offering isolated heavy falls and a chance of thunderstorm entertainment. Our interior and eastern regions—including the popular Navua, Suva, Nausori, and a few others—are likely to be the star attractions for this splashy show. Expect a side of localized heavy falls, which might cause flash flooding in the low-lying and flood-prone areas that forgot their umbrellas. The winds will be moderate with a chance of feeling a bit fresh at times, and those seas? Moderate to rough—a bit like your auntie’s opinion at family gatherings.

Outlook for Friday: More cloudy shenanigans ahead! Expect clouds to meander in with the possibility of showers, and yes, isolated heavy falls to keep things spicy. Interior and northeastern parts of the larger islands, including some flickers of thunderstorm drama, are on tap. And just like a rerun of your least favorite sitcom, expect the localized heavy falls to keep causing flash flooding in the usual suspect areas.
