Weather Update

Issued from the National Weather Forecasting Centre in Nadi at 10:45 AM on Saturday, February 21, 2026.

Situation: Hold onto your umbrellas, folks! We’re currently under the charming influence of a south to southeast wind flow which is blowing over the lovely Fiji group like it’s on vacation. Meanwhile, a lazy trough of low pressure is meandering south of us, bringing along a cloud party with occasional showers until later tomorrow. And as if that’s not enough, another rebellious trough is gearing up to crash our northern shores come Monday.

Forecast to midnight tomorrow for the Fiji group:
You might want to dance with your raincoat today! Expect occasional showers and a few isolated thunderstorms ready to zap with heavy downpours especially over Kadavu, nearby smaller islands, and the southern Lau group. For those in the Lomaiviti and rest of Lau group, anticipate shy clouds that might just shyly sprinkle a few showers and maybe throw in an isolated thunderstorm for good measure.

In other areas like Sigatoka-Coral Coast-Korolevu, Serua-Namosi, and more, it looks like we’re getting dressed in cloudy attire with brief showers. If you’re on Viti Levu or Vanua Levu, keep an eye on the sky because isolated thunderstorms and heavy falls are on the guest list for this evening.

Winds will be moderately breezy, both south and southeast. Seas are moderate too, but nothing a strong swimmer can’t handle.

Outlook for Monday: Oh boy, more cloud! Occasional showers and isolated thunderstorms are slated to hang out in Northern Bua, Macuata, Cakaudrove, Taveuni, and surrounding tiny islands. Elsewhere, expect partly cloudy skies with a few brief showers making their entrance. More occasional showers are set to make an appearance later on – they’re quite social, it seems.

For our friends in Navua/Suva/Nausori:
Get ready for some cloudy interludes with brief showers, and there’s a good chance of isolated thunderstorms with heavy falls in the afternoon. Max temperature today is a balmy 32 degrees.

For Natadradave/Korovou:
You’ll get a similar treat as in Navua, so have your umbrellas ready!

For Sigatoka/Coral Coast:
We declare you “fine” except for those cheeky afternoon or evening showers and thunderstorms that might just crash the party. Expect a range of temperatures from a cozy 25 at night to a toasty 33 during the day.

For Nadi/Lautoka/Ba:
It’s pretty much the same story here – “fine” with just a splash of showers and thunderstorms in the evening. Get ready for a perfect 33 degrees today!

The Yasawa/Mamanuca group can also look forward to “fine” weather but keep those umbrellas handy just in case!

Labasa will enjoy fine weather too, but afternoon or evening thunderstorms want a word with you – stay alert!

Savusavu: Cloudy greetings with brief showers, and yes, expect some thunderstorms in the mix.

Nabouwalu and Taveuni: You’ll have your share of cloudy periods along with brief showers today, and thunderstorms might want to join the game.

Lau and Lomaiviti group: Things are looking cloudy with some showers and isolated thunderstorms doing their thing.

And last but not least, for our friends in Kadavu: It sounds quite adventurous with occasional showers and thunderstorms, along with potential heavy falls.

For Rotuma: Get ready for a sprinkle, but nothing too outrageous. Just some moderate easterly winds and seas to keep you company.

Remember, if the sky starts to throw a tantrum with rain, just shake your fist and remind it who’s boss! Stay dry and enjoy the weather, everyone!
