Weather Update
Brought to you fresh from the National Weather Forecasting Centre in Nadi, bright and early at 5:30 AM on Tuesday, January 20, 2026.

Situation: We’ve got a cheeky trough of low pressure lounging just west of the Fiji group. Its friends, the clouds and showers, are throwing a party over the western side of the country, thanks to some very moody northwest winds.

Forecast to midnight tonight for the fabulous Fiji group: Get ready for some cloudy moments with a sprinkle of showers over our beloved Natadola, Nadi, Lautoka, Ba, Tavua, Rakiraki, Yasawa, and Mamanuca group. Also, we can’t forget our interior pals in Ba and Ra, Naitasiri, and Tailevu North who will be joining the shower-soaked fun.

In the land of Bua, Lekutu, Dreketi, Seaqaqa, Labasa, Namuka, Udu Point, and the interior of Wailevu, it’s mostly fine, apart from a little shower drama here and there. Taveuni and the nearby minor islands, Lau, and Lomaiviti will see their fair share of sunshine too, but expect some cheeky afternoon or evening showers to crash the sun party.

Oh, and brace yourselves for some isolated afternoon or evening thunderstorms that might bring heavy rains – keeping low-lying areas on their toes as they might get a little splashy. Winds will be moderate, blowing northwest to northeast, and the seas are feeling moderately adventurous.

Looking ahead to Wednesday: Showers will be the star over Sigatoka, Nadi, Lautoka, Ba, Tavua, Rakiraki, the interiors of Ba and Ra, and Naitasiri and Tailevu North. Oh, and don’t forget our friends in Bua, Lekutu, Dreketi, Seaqaqa, Labasa, Namuka, Udu Point, and Taveuni – you’ll be seeing more of those showers too. As for all you non-soggy areas, expect mostly fine conditions but don’t let your guard down; you might still get some sneaky afternoon or evening showers along with the thunderstorm juggernaut.

Specifics for your area:
– Navua/Suva/Nausori: Expect fine weather with just a sprinkle of drama in the form of afternoon or evening showers and an ambitious thunderstorm or two. The day will start at a cozy 24°C and peak at a balmy 31°C.
– Natadradave/Korovou: Same story here—fine weather, but don’t forget to look for rain clouds that might have made plans. Min: 24, Max: 29.
– Sigatoka/Coral Coast: You’ll get to enjoy fine weather interrupted by afternoon or evening showers and the mood swings of thunderstorms. Min: 23, Max: 30.
– Nadi/Lautoka/Ba: You guessed it—cloudy moments and some showers. Your umbrellas will come in handy. Min: 23, Max: 30.
– Taveuni: Your day will be a mix of clouds and showers. Get ready for some thunderstorm excitement later on. Min: 24, Max: 30.

Finally, for those on Rotuma: It’s all fine and dandy apart from a few surprise showers. Expect a mild wind and moderate seas. Min: 24, Max: 31.

Stay prepared and keep an eye on those skies—because the weather does love to keep us on our toes!
