Weather Alert!
Greetings from the National Weather Forecasting Centre! It’s currently 5:43 AM on the 27th of December 2025, and we’ve got a lovely mix of clouds and showers brewing over the eastern and northern regions of our lovely islands, courtesy of a friendly trough of low pressure. The east to southeast winds are feeling quite cheerful as they waft around, so let’s dive into what today has in store!
For the entire Fiji group today, expect occasional showers and perhaps a few surprise thunderstorms to crash the party over Serua-Namosi, Navua-Suva-Nausori, Tailevu-Naitasiri-Ra, Eastern Macuata, Southern Bua, Cakaudrove, Taveuni, and their smaller island buddies. Don’t forget Lau and Lomaiviti groups plus Kadavu and co. They’ll also be getting their share of heavy falls, which could lead to some flash flooding in low-lying areas. So, if you see a duck, just consider it a new friend with a serious lifejacket!
Elsewhere, we’re looking at mostly fine conditions, although keep your eyes peeled for some afternoon or evening showers and thunderstorms that might just pass by to say hello. We’ve got moderate to fresh winds from the east to northeast and a bit of a wild ride on the seas.
Looking ahead to Sunday, it’s more of the same, folks! Occasional showers and a few thunderstorms will continue the wet and wild theme over the aforementioned areas. Isolated heavy falls are knocking on the door again, so keep that waterproof gear handy. For everyone elsewhere, expect partly cloudy skies with a possibility of those afternoon or evening splashdowns.
Now, let’s get down to the nitty-gritty forecast for some specific spots:
– Navua/Suva/Nausori will see occasional showers and isolated thunderstorms with a cozy range of 22 to 31 degrees. Bring your umbrella and a raincoat—because you never know!
– Natadradave/Korovou, you’ll also be in the occasional shower and thunderstorm club with similar 21 to 31-degree fun.
– Sigatoka/Coral Coast will be looking fine except for some sneaky afternoon showers and thunderstorms. Temperatures will dance between 22 and 32 degrees.
– Nadi/Lautoka/Ba, and Tavua/Rakiraki, enjoy the fine weather with a splash of afternoon showers and thunderstorms—same temperature highs of 32!
– Yasawa/Mamanuca group, just fine apart from those entitled afternoon showers. Keep it easy with temperatures hovering between 22 and 32.
– Labasa, Savusavu, and Nabouwalu will be mixing cloudy periods with showers and isolated thunderstorms, temperatures ranging from a warm 22 to 32.
– For Taveuni, the rain gods will be delivering occasional showers and a few thunderstorms, with temperatures hitting between 22 and 31.
– Lau and Lomaiviti, you’re in for occasional showers and thunderstorms too, just like everyone else!
– Kadavu, you’re included in the party for occasional showers and thunderstorms, with temps at a comfy 22 to 31 degrees.
– And over in Rotuma, you’ll be experiencing some cloudy periods with brief showers and moderate southeast winds, with a temperature range of 25 to 30 degrees.
To sum it up, it’s looking like a wet and wild Saturday, and Sunday might tag along with a similar vibe! Remember to keep your umbrellas at the ready, and maybe even practice your best “dodge-the-rain” dance.
