Weather Update
Issued from the National Weather Forecasting Centre Nadi at 3:30 PM on Sunday, March 8, 2026
Well, it looks like the weather gods are playing with their cloud puppets again! A trough of low pressure has decided to set up camp over the eastern parts of our beautiful country, which means we can expect a bit of an umbrella workout in the eastern and northern regions over the next day or so. So, grab those raincoats and galoshes because the forecasters predict some clouds with showers and the occasional thunderstorm trying to steal the show!
Here’s the scoop until midnight tomorrow for the whole Fijian group:
Expect cloudy periods featuring some showers and even a few isolated thunderstorms across the Northern Division, Lau, Lomaiviti group, Kadavu, and other nearby islands. If you’re in Navua, Suva, Nausori, Tailevu, Naitasiri, Ra, Yasawa, and Mamanuca, you might want to take cover too! For the rest of us, enjoy generally fine weather, but watch out because the afternoon or evening could get a little dramatic with showers and thunderstorms. With localised heavy falls, be mindful – no one wants an unexpected swim in their living room!
As for the wind, moderate northerly breezes are in the forecast, so no need to give your hair a fancy styling – it may just end up looking like you’ve been windsurfing!
Looking ahead to Tuesday: expect a continuation of cloudy periods with some showers, especially in Serua-Namosi, Navua, Suva, Nausori, Tailevu, Naitasiri, Ra, and several other scenic spots. The sun might just peek through, but won’t last long before it gets photobombed by afternoon or evening thunderstorms – brace yourself for heavy falls, especially over Viti Levu and Vanua Levu, so bring those stylish rain boots!
