Weather Update Alert!
Brought to you by the National Weather Forecasting Centre in Nadi, and it’s not your average weather forecast – it’s your gateway to weather drama!
As of 5:30 AM this fine Sunday, December 21, 2025, we’re dealing with a rather uninviting guest: a trough of low pressure that’s throwing a little rain party over the Fiji group. It seems the moisture in the air is partying like it’s 1999, courtesy of a moody easterly wind flow. Grab your raincoat and maybe a rubber duck!
What to expect before the clock strikes midnight tonight? Prepare for occasional showers that might feel like Mother Nature is showering you with love – but watch out for those isolated heavy falls and thunderstorms, especially if you happen to be in Vanua Levu, Taveuni, eastern Viti Levu, Lau, or the Lomaiviti groups. Think of it as nature’s way of reminding us who’s boss!
For the rest of us, expect cloudy periods with some sneaky afternoon or evening showers and possibly a thunderstorm or two just to keep you on your toes. Keep an umbrella handy, as isolated heavy falls could lead to some very soggy socks and that could only end in sadness. We could even see some flash flooding in low-lying areas if the rain gets particularly feisty.
The wind is showing up to the party too – moderate to fresh easterly breezes, and let’s be real, they’re a bit gusty around those heavy showers. So if you’re planning on an outdoor picnic, rethink your life choices.
On to the sea! Those waves may be moderate to rough, so if you’re taking a dip, remember to do it with flair!
Looking ahead to Monday, we’re keeping the clouds around for eastern Viti Levu and the Lau and Lomaiviti groups; but don’t fret! For many other regions, things are looking fine…except for those scattered afternoon or evening showers. The wind will still be fresh, so put on your windbreaker if you’re feeling adventurous.
