What do we have cooking in the atmospheric kitchen, you ask? Well, a cheeky trough of low pressure is making its way down towards Fiji, bringing with it a dash of good ol’ easterly winds that might have us feeling like we’re on a breezy island vacation—if only we could escape the rain!
Flashy thunderstorms are gearing up for a show, especially in the Northern Division, Taveuni, and those smaller islands hanging out nearby (Cikobia & Qelelevu). Expect showers to intensify later today as the weather decides to crank up its party mode. As for Viti Levu, get ready for a bit of cloudy fun with showers and possible thunderstorms making a cameo appearance throughout the day.
If you’re in Navua/Suva/Nausori, think of today as one of those “bring your umbrella” days because showers are expected to play hide and seek until they decide to become more constant (and possibly heavy) later on. And the temperature? A chill 22 degrees, maxing out at a cozy 29. But don’t let that fool you—it’s about to feel a bit stormy!
Now, for the laid-back folks in Nadi/Lautoka/Ba, it’s pretty fine out there! Just watch for those possible isolated afternoon or evening showers. High hopes for a sun-soaked paradise with a temperature reaching up to a balmy 32.
The Coral Coast is also getting in on the action with fine weather, occasional showers, and some thunderclaps in the background. The forecast is a delightful min of 22 to a nice max of around 30.
Tavua/Rakiraki is set for a similar vibe—mostly fine with a risk of those cheeky afternoon showers sneaking in. But hey, you can’t have the rainbow without a little rain!
As we hop over to the Yasawa/Mamanuca group, they’re basking under sunny skies but can expect the odd shower to crash the party. A comfortable 30 degrees is on the cards.
Over in Labasa and Savusavu, say hello to shower showers and thunderstorms! It might get serious with the rain later today, so don’t forget your raincoat if you’re heading out.
And if you live in Taveuni, prepare for the same stormy shenanigans. Showers abound, with a possible thunderstorm chasing you down later.
Those in Lau and Lomaiviti can expect clouds and the occasional heavy shower, ensuring no one is left without a rain dance.
Last but not least, Rotuma is hosting a rain fest with moderate winds and the possibility of thunderstorms. If you’re planning a visit, bring your rain jacket and maybe a rubber duck!
Outlook for Saturday: It’s looking like more of the same—occasional showers and a dash of thunderstorms in multiple areas, but no real need to send out an SOS just yet. Keeping our spirits high while the weather is busy playing its tricks.
Stay dry, stay smiling, and keep that umbrella handy!
