Weather Update
Brought to you by the National Weather Forecasting Centre, Nadi
Alright folks, grab your umbrellas and put on your rubber boots, because a little “tough of low pressure” is making its way south toward Fiji! This pesky system has brought along some clouds and showers ready to crash the party later tonight. In the meantime, you can expect a breeze from the east to southeast—perfect for flying your kites, provided they don’t get blown to the next island!
Forecast till midnight for the Fiji group: Be prepared for some sporadic showers and possibly a few thunderstorms in the Northern Division—Southern Bua, Cakaudrove (including the beautiful Taveuni), and its nearby smaller islands. From later tonight, the rain is really going to kick it up a notch with occasional showers.
For our friends in the interior and eastern parts of Viti Levu (that’s from Sigatoka-Korolevu to Suva and beyond), gear up for cloudy skies, showers, and maybe some thunderous applause from the heavens in the form of thunderstorms in the afternoon or evening. Oh, and don’t be startled if you find a bit of heavy rain falling—it’s just the weather showing off!
Elsewhere, expect a mostly fine day, only interrupted by those cheeky afternoon or evening showers and some thunder. Just a heads up, the isolated heavy rain could lead to some exciting flash floods in low-lying areas, so keep an eye on the puddles!
With moderate to fresh easterly winds kicking up, enjoy the seas—though they might be a bit rough around the edges.
Looking ahead to Monday: more of the same, with occasional showers and isolated heavy falls especially in the interiors and eastern parts. We’ll see moderate winds and a bit of excitement on the water.
