Weather Update: Get Your Umbrellas Ready!
Issued from the National Weather Forecasting Centre Nadi at 5:43 am on Saturday, December 27, 2025.
Situation:
We’ve got a low-pressure trough cruising through the eastern and northern parts of our lovely group, bringing along a cloud party and some showers. Meanwhile, a moist east to southeast wind is blowing through, keeping things interesting!
Forecast for Fiji until midnight tonight:
Expect a mix of occasional showers and the kind of isolated thunderstorms that might make you consider your life choices. This includes spots like Serua-Namosi, Navua-Suva-Nausori, Tailevu-Naitasiri-Ra, Eastern Macuata, Southern Bua, Cakaudrove, Taveuni, and the smaller islands nearby, not to forget Lau and Lomaiviti groups, plus Kadavu and friends. Isolated heavy falls will be making a guest appearance, so watch out for those flash floods if you’re hanging out in low-lying areas.
Elsewhere, if you’re not in the storm zone, you’ll mostly enjoy fine weather, with just a few afternoon or evening showers to keep you on your toes. Winds will be moderate to fresh from the east to northeast, so it might just blow away any loose items lying around. And don’t even think about going for a swim unless you fancy some moderate to rough seas!
Outlook for Sunday:
More of the same, folks! Expect occasional showers and a few thunderstorms over Serua-Namosi, Navua-Suva-Nausori, Tailevu-Naitasiri-Ra, Eastern Macuata, Southern Bua, Cakaudrove, Taveuni, and nearby islands. Isolated heavy falls and thunderstorms want to join the party too, and yes, locals should be mindful of possible flooding in low-lying areas.
If you’re in other areas, it’s partly cloudy with only isolated afternoon or evening showers. Winds are still in a playful mood from the northeast to east, and we’ve got moderate to rough seas to keep things lively.
