Fiji Weather Bulletin: Strong Wind Warnings and Heavy Rain Alerts Across Fiji Group and Rotuma as Low-Pressure Trough Persists

Weather Update

Greetings from the National Weather Forecasting Centre in Nadi! It’s a cozy 5:30 AM on Wednesday, November 26, 2025, and boy, do we have some weather news hot off the press!

First off, we’re sounding the alarm – we’re under a STRONG WIND WARNING for the adventurous land lovers of Macuata, Northern Bua, Cikobia, Taveuni, and their smaller island buddies, as well as the Lau and Lomaiviti groups. You might want to hold onto your hats, folks, because those winds are reaching speeds of up to 45 km/h! Better not let go, or you might end up as the next main character in a weather-related adventure story!

In addition, a HEAVY RAIN WARNING is draped over the northern and eastern parts of the Fiji group like an overly enthusiastic blanket at a family picnic. And don’t forget the rest of you over in Fiji – the HEAVY RAIN ALERT is up, so maybe fill your life jackets with snacks for the forecasted downpours!

What’s going on? An active trough of low pressure is slowly shuffling across the Fiji group, bringing cloud cover and showers that will be your unwanted guests until Thursday.

Here’s what to expect before the clock strikes midnight tonight:

Get ready for fresh to strong northwesterly winds up to 45 km/h in the usual suspects: Macuata, Northern Bua, Cikobia, Taveuni, Lau, and the Lomaiviti crowd. Tomorrow, the winds will ease off, probably off to a beach vacation.

And speaking of beaches, expect moderate to rough seas, perfect for practicing your ‘whoops’ as you dodge the occasional wave.

Heavy rain and the occasional thunderstorm will be making grand appearances over the Northern Division, Taveuni, Lau, and Lomaiviti – possibly causing some flash flooding. So, if you see puddles forming, try not to have an impromptu swimming contest in your backyard!
