Fiji Weather Bulletin: Strong Wind Warning for Lau Group and Heavy Rain Alert for Eastern Viti Levu, Lau, Lomaiviti, Kadavu and Rotuma

Weather Bulletin – Just a Slightly Wetter Than Usual Edition
Issued from the National Weather Forecasting Centre in Nadi at 10:45 am on Saturday, November 22, 2025

If you thought your hair could withstand a little wind, think again! A STRONG WIND WARNING is still blowing its whistle for the Lau Group. Meanwhile, the Lomaiviti Group, Kadavu, and their tiny island buddies can now breathe a sigh of relief as they’ve been released from the thrilling gusts.

But wait, there’s more! A HEAVY RAIN ALERT is keeping the eastern half of Viti Levu on its toes – that’s Serua-Namosi through Navua-Suva-Nausori to Tailevu-Naitasiri-Ra areas, and a few other places that might as well be their own reality TV show.

In the latest twist of nature, a shallow low-pressure system is advancing toward Fiji like it’s in a slow-motion movie scene. It’s expected to settle south of Fiji tomorrow, sending a moist northwesterly wind flow over us, bringing its best friends: heavy rain and thunderstorms. Yay!

The Forecast for Midnight Tomorrow:
So, here’s the lowdown. Expect occasional downpours with isolated heavy rain and the occasional thunderous applause over Serua-Namosi, Navua-Suva-Nausori and yes, even Rakiraki who just can’t decide if it wants to join the party or take a rain check.
And for those in other areas, cloudy periods will flirt with isolated afternoon or evening showers and the odd thunderstorm that, let’s face it, is just here to spice things up.

Beware! Localized heavy falls could lead to some impromptu flooding in our cozy low-lying spots.

On to the winds, we’ll have strong northeasterly breezes reaching an exhilarating 45 km/hr over the Lau Group, but don’t worry; they’re easing up tomorrow. Other places can expect moderate clockwise winds – still no pirate adventures here, folks.

The seas will be moderate to rough, like that last time you tried to bake cookies from scratch!

More rainy shenanigans are in the forecast with abundant showers, heavier at times, and a bit of thunder that might have you jumping in your boots, especially in flood-prone areas.
