A strong wind warning remains in force for coastal land areas for Yasawa, Rakiraki, Nabouwalu, Udu Point, Taveuni and nearby smaller islands, the Lau and Lomaiviti groups, Kadavu and nearby smaller islands. A separate strong wind warning is in effect for Rotuma’s land areas and waters.
Situation: A weak trough of low pressure lies slow moving over the eastern parts of the group. Another trough of low pressure is expected to develop and approach the group from the west from later today. Associated cloud, showers and rain are expected to affect most places of the country until later Wednesday.
Forecast to midnight tonight for the Fiji group:
– Coastal land areas of Yasawa, Rakiraki, Nabouwalu, Udu Point, Taveuni and nearby smaller islands; Lau and Lomaiviti group; Kadavu and nearby smaller islands: East to southeast winds up to 45 km/hr. Winds are expected to gradually ease and become moderate to fresh east to northeasterly from tomorrow.
– Rest of Fiji: Moderate to fresh east to southeast winds becoming east to northeast from tomorrow. Rough seas becoming moderate to rough seas from tomorrow.
Today:
– Northern Division, Lau and Lomaiviti groups, Serua-Namosi, Navua-Suva-Nausori, Tailevu-Naitasiri-Ra, Kadavu and nearby smaller islands: Some showers, with showers becoming frequent from tomorrow night. Localised heavy showers may cause flash-flooding in low-lying areas. Fine apart from possible isolated afternoon or evening showers elsewhere. Cool at night.
– Navua / Suva / Nausori: Some showers today; showers become frequent from tomorrow night. Cool at night.
– Nadi / Lautoka / Ba: Fine apart from possible afternoon or evening showers. Cool at night.
– Sigatoka/Coral Coast: Fine apart from possible afternoon or evening showers. Cool at night.
– Tavua/Rakiraki: Some showers and possible thunderstorm today; showers become frequent from later tomorrow over Rakiraki. Southeast winds up to 45 km/hr, easing to moderate to fresh east to northeasterly from tomorrow. Elsewhere, fine apart from possible afternoon or evening showers. Cool at night.
– Natadradave/Korovou: Some showers and possible thunderstorm today; showers become frequent later tomorrow. Cool at night.
– Yasawa/Mamanuca group: Fine today apart from possible afternoon or evening showers. Southeast winds up to 45 km/hr over Yasawa; winds easing to moderate to fresh east to northeasterly from tomorrow. Cool at night.
– Labasa: Some showers and possible thunderstorm today; showers becoming frequent later tomorrow. Cool at night.
– Savusavu: Some showers and possible thunderstorm today; showers becoming frequent later tomorrow. Cool at night.
– Nabouwalu: Some showers and possible thunderstorm today; showers becoming frequent later tomorrow. Southeast winds up to 45 km/hr, easing to moderate to fresh east to northeasterly from tomorrow.
– Taveuni: Some showers and possible thunderstorm today; showers becoming frequent later tomorrow. Southeast winds up to 45 km/hr, easing to moderate to fresh east to northeasterly from tomorrow.
– Lau and Lomaiviti Group: Some showers and possible thunderstorm today; showers becoming frequent later tomorrow. Southeast winds up to 45 km/hr, easing to moderate to fresh east to northeasterly from tomorrow.

– Rotuma: A strong wind warning remains in force for land areas and waters. A trough of low pressure with associated cloud and showers affects Rotuma. An easterly wind flow prevails. Some showers and possible isolated thunderstorms. Southeast winds around 45 km/hr. Rough seas. Max 29, Min 23.

Note:
– Strong wind warnings are current for Rotuma and for coastal land areas listed earlier. Winds may gust higher than average and seas remain rough in affected zones.
– A trough interaction with incoming moisture means showers and possible thunderstorms will be more widespread into tomorrow, with the potential for localized flash floods in low-lying areas. Keep an umbrella handy, secure loose outdoor items, and stay indoors during heavier downpours.
