Strong Wind Warning continues for coastal land areas including Yasawa, Rakiraki, Nabouwalu, Udu Point, Taveuni and nearby smaller islands, Lau and Lomaiviti groups, Kadavu and nearby smaller islands.
Situation
A high-pressure system sitting south of Fiji is pressing fresh to strong southeasterly winds across the group. A trough of low pressure is approaching from the northeast, bringing clouds and showers to the northern and eastern parts of the archipelago over the next few days.
Forecast to midnight tonight for the Fiji group
– Coastal land areas of Yasawa, Rakiraki, Nabouwalu, Udu Point, Taveuni and nearby smaller islands, Lau and Lomaiviti group, Kadavu and nearby smaller islands: Southeast winds up to 45 km/h.
– Rest of Fiji: Moderate to fresh southeast winds, gusty at times. Rough seas.
– Cloudy periods with some showers and possible thunderstorms over the Northern Division, Lau and Lomaiviti groups, Serua-Namosi, Navua-Suva-Nausori, Tailevu-Naitasiri-Ra, Kadavu and nearby smaller islands. Showers may become frequent later today.
– Localised heavy falls may lead to flash flooding of low-lying areas.
– Fine apart from possible afternoon or evening showers elsewhere.
– Cool at night.
