Strong Wind Warning remains in force for coastal land areas including Yasawa, Rakiraki, Nabouwalu, Udu Point, Taveuni and nearby smaller islands, Lau and Lomaiviti groups, Kadavu and nearby smaller islands.
Situation: A weak trough of low pressure sits and drifts slowly east over the country. Another trough is expected to approach from the northeast later today. Cloud and showers are likely to affect the northern and eastern parts of the group over the next few days. If you hear thunder, it’s not your house party’s thunder, it’s the weather’s thunder.
Forecast to midnight tonight for the Fiji group:
– Coastal land areas (Yasawa, Rakiraki, Nabouwalu, Udu Point, Taveuni and nearby smaller islands; Lau and Lomaiviti group; Kadavu and nearby smaller islands): Southeast winds up to 45 km/hr.
– Rest of Fiji: Moderate to fresh southeast winds, gusty at times. Rough seas.
– Cloudy periods with some showers and possible thunderstorms over the Northern Division, Lau and Lomaiviti groups, Serua-Namosi, Navua-Suva-Nausori, Tailevu-Naitasiri-Ra, Kadavu and nearby smaller islands. Showers become more frequent later today. Localised heavy falls may lead to flash-flooding of low-lying areas.
– Fine apart from possible afternoon or evening showers elsewhere. Cool at night.
Outlook for Sunday:
