Ladies and gentlemen, gather around for your slightly breezy and occasionally damp forecast from the tropical paradise of the Fiji Islands! Brace yourselves, coastal folks, because the southeast winds have really taken a shine to us (and by shine, I mean a good, sturdy 45 km/hr breeze). Hold onto your safari hats, especially if you’re in Ra-Rakiraki, Southern Bua, or any of our lovely little islands like Kadavu. These gusty affairs shall remain until midnight, so pamper those palm trees and secure any loose laundry!

The seas are getting frisky with all this wind, leading to some rough waves. If you’re a fan of roller coasters, today might be the day to enjoy that boat ride (or maybe not). As for the sky, it seems to be having a bit of an existential crisis with clouds and showers dropping in unannounced—especially if you’re hanging around Suva, Navua, or the sassy regions of Tailevu, Nay or Kadavu.

Good news for those in Nadi, Lautoka, and Ba: The sun has got your back, and a rather sunny disposition for most part of the day. If you were hoping to impress someone special with a sunset picnic, today’s your day! But don’t you dare pack away that umbrella just yet; stray showers might make a cameo in the afternoon or evening. The same nod to sunshine goes for those basking on the Coral Coast.

For the wind-ruffled crew of Tavua and Rakiraki, expect a little sprinkle here, a little gust there, and maybe even some uninvited evening showers getting in on the action. Yasawa and the Mamanuca group, you’re looking at mostly clear skies, but those persistent winds might want to ruffle your beach towels.

In Labasa, you’ll be soaking up the sunshine like nobody’s business with just the ghost of a chance of showers sneaking by later. Savusavu, you’ve got those classic shower dances, so embrace the cooler evenings with a warm beverage.

Nabouwalu and Taveuni, you’ve got those strong winds and a few showers to keep you on your toes, so dig out those sturdy umbrellas—no flying away allowed! Kadavu and the Lau and Lomaiviti groups will also need to batten down the hatches a bit with those winds getting a bit too enthusiastic along with a smattering of showers.

And finally, our friends in Rotuma, who are also looking at some vigorous wind performance—but fear not, the wind plays nice over the next day or so. Just hang in there with a bit of rain and maybe even a dash of thunderstorm drama for added excitement.

Come Tuesday, expect the wind and rain patterns to sashay on for another day, so keep your spirits up and your scarves tighter, folks. Stay cozy, stay safe, and may your winds be forever at your back—unless, of course, you’re kite surfing!
