Weather Shenanigans by the National Weather Forecasting Centre, Nadi
Issued at 3:30 PM on Monday, the 15th of September, 2025
Attention grabbers: If you’re in Ra-Rakiraki, Southern Bua, or any of those lovely smaller islands sprawled over the map, hold onto your hats – or better yet, just skip the hat. A hearty high-pressure system is directing some boisterous southeast winds our way.
For the Fiji group:
The central and eastern parts of Viti Levu, including the denizens of Serua-Namosi, Navua-Suva-Nausori, and other surrounding areas, should prepare for a few showers. It’s almost like a natural water party – bring your soap and pretend it’s a mini carwash! Meanwhile, Kadavu, Taveuni, Vanua Levu’s interiors, and all those quaint islands will be enjoying sporadic cloud cover with quick, sneak-attack showers. Everywhere else, it’s shaping up to be a cracker of a day – fend off any sudden friendly cloud companions with smiles and sunscreen.
Expect cooler nights; perfect for cuddling up like kittens. The southeast winds will be moderately enthusiastic, reaching a crescendo of rough seas. If you’re sailing, consider trading your oars for some heavy-duty megaphones to warn wayward fish about those waves.
Wednesday, oh Wednesday: Roll out the welcome mat for southeast winds reaching the exciting speeds of 45 km/h! Clouds and showers will hover here and there, specifically targeting those same vibrant coastal regions. Most of Fiji, on the other hand, should remain happily fine – applause for Mother Nature’s balance act.
Here’s your handy local forecast:
Navua / Suva / Nausori: A cloudy performer, popping in occasional showers. Nights are chilly enough to cozy up with a warm cuppa. Too cool for sunbathing, but just right for night stargazing.
Nadi / Lautoka / Ba: Mainly fine and dandy. Nights will cool down, so grab that blanket with the odd tassels your gran knitted, it’ll come in handy.
Sigatoka/Coral Coast: Pristine conditions, almost as if the weather gods reserved the best for you.
Tavua/Rakiraki: Rakiraki’s pulling a cloudy double-act with brief showers. It’s always fun to guess when you’ll get caught without an umbrella.
Natadradave/Korovou and Savusavu: Playing hide-and-seek with clouds and showers. No one beats them at that game.
Yasawa/Mamanuca group: Golden sunshine with cool nights. Time to perfect those marshmallows-over-an-open-fire techniques.
Labasa: Consistently pleasant with just the right amount of coolness to make you rethink every sleeveless outfit.
Nabouwalu: It’s like you hit the ‘forever lovely’ button. For Wednesday, brace for a wee wind-fest – epic hair days ahead!
Taveuni, Lau and Lomaiviti: A mix of clouds and wind-driven showers to brighten your skies.
Kadavu: Another cloudy day, playing catch with showers. Who’s going to complain with such moderate temps?
Rotuma’s special alert: Whoo boy! A strong wind warning’s keeping everyone on their toes. On land, strong winds practicing for the next Olympic sprint, possibly calming down by tomorrow. Over the waters: winds with a clear-cut agenda of hustle. Wear your boho dresses or clothes that gracefully catch the breeze.
Reminder for the curious explorer: If you’re in Rotuma, brace for a scene of clouds with a possibility of the odd shower, but it’s clearing up faster than a magic trick by later today.
By Wednesday, just sprinkle a little sun on those brief showers – best of both worlds, right?
