Fiji Weather Bulletin: Strong Easterly Winds Up to 45 km/h, Heavy Rain and Flash Flood Risk Across Kadavu, Viti Levu, Taveuni, Vanua Levu and Surrounding Islands

Weather Update

Attention all meteorological enthusiasts and casual rain watchers! A strong wind warning is still in effect—a gentle reminder that those coastal breezes in the eastern parts of Kadavu and its charming little islands might feel more like a wild ride on an amusement park ride rather than a leisurely stroll along the beach. The same goes for the eastern half of Viti Levu, Taveuni, Vanua Levu, the Yasawa Group, and our lovely Lau and Lomaiviti Groups.

What’s happening, you ask? Well, there’s a party of clouds and rain forming to the north, and it seems determined to drift south and possibly crash into the Fiji group over the next couple of days. In the meantime, we’re under the influence of some lively easterly winds that could reach up to 45 km/hr. So, hold onto your hats, folks!

As for the forecast until midnight tomorrow, expect those rambunctious easterly winds to whip through the eastern parts of Kadavu and the other mentioned areas. And let’s not forget, rough seas are in attendance as well. While you may have wanted to put on a show at the beach, the weather is telling you to take a raincheck and keep things mellow.

The fun doesn’t stop there—occasional rain with some island-style thunderstorms can be expected over Vanua Levu, Taveuni, and the eastern part of Viti Levu. That’s right—dancing raindrops could put on quite the performance, especially in Kadavu and parts of Lau and Lomaiviti. Elsewhere, expect some pretty clouds with a sprinkling of afternoon showers and maybe a thunderclap or two to keep things spicy.

Oh, and beware! Isolated heavy downpours could lead to flash flooding in low-lying areas. So, make sure your rain boots are close by if you live in those flood-prone spots!

Looking ahead to Wednesday, the cloudy curtain will stay up with sporadic showers and those nippy thunderstorms making surprise guest appearances.

For cities like Navua, Suva, and Nausori, prepare for occasional showers and the thrill of isolated thunderstorms. High of 28 degrees – not too shabby for a rain dance.

Nadi, Lautoka, and Ba will see a bit more sunshine in the mix but expect those classic afternoon showers, potentially bringing some heavy downpours.

And for the rest of Fiji, get ready for some occasional rain, exciting thunderstorms, and a smattering of heavy falls. The temperatures will be cozy, hanging around 22 to 30 degrees.

So, don your best rain gear, take a deep breath, and embrace whatever Mother Nature throws our way! It’s all part of Fiji’s charm, after all.
