Weather Alert
Brought to you by the National Weather Forecasting Centre in Nadi, and yes, we’re awake at 5:30am on Tuesday, January 20, 2026!
Situation: There’s a sneaky trough of low pressure lurking just to the west of the Fiji group, bringing along its entourage of clouds and showers. It’s like the weather couldn’t find the right party, so now we’re stuck with this moist northwest wind flowing through.
Forecast until midnight tonight for the Fiji group: Expect some cloudy periods and showers to party over Natadola, Nadi, Lautoka, Ba, Tavua, Rakiraki, the Yasawa Islands, and Mamanucas. If you’re in the interiors of Ba and Ra, Naitasiri, or Tailevu North, grab an umbrella—it’s going to be a wet one!
On the bright side, Bua, Lekutu, Dreketi, Seaqaqa, Labasa, Namuka, Udu Point, and the beautiful Taveuni and surrounding islands will see mostly fine weather, with just a few brief showers. Meanwhile, the rest of us will enjoy fine weather too—until the afternoon or evening showers decide to make an appearance, followed by some potential dramatic thunderstorms that may lead to localized flash flooding. So, if you see a cloud looking suspicious, it might be time to find some high ground!
Expect moderate northwest to northeast winds and seas that are just choppy enough to remind you that nature is in charge.
Outlook for Wednesday: Showers will again figure prominently over the usual suspects—Sigatoka, Nadi, Lautoka, Ba, Tavua, Rakiraki, and more. They’ll also pop in to say hi in Bua, Lecutu, Labasa, and Taveuni.
