Weather Alert: Your Friendly Forecast
Hello there, weather watchers! So, it appears that Mother Nature has decided to take inspiration from a water park and unleash some heavy rain over the Northern Division, Eastern parts of Viti Levu, Kadavu, and some nearby small islands, along with the Lau and Lomaiviti groups. Grab your umbrellas, folks!
You may have noticed a little trough of low pressure hanging around – it’s not planning on leaving anytime soon. Rain clouds and showers are acting like that uninvited guest at a party, lingering around until tomorrow. Meanwhile, we’ve got some interesting breezy company with moist winds nudging us from the northwest to the southerly direction.
Now, for tonight’s forecast! If you’re in the eastern or northern regions of Viti Levu, Vanua Levu, Lau, Lomaiviti group, or even Kadavu and those charming smaller islands, expect occasional rain that might just put your leaky umbrella to the test. Meanwhile, for everyone else, partly cloudy skies will host some isolated showers and the occasional thunderstorm—just enough to make sure you stay guessing whether to carry an umbrella or a surfboard.
If you’re feeling adventurous or just brave, watch out for localized heavy falls that could lead to flash flooding in low-lying areas. We’ve got moderate to fresh winds—perfect for flying a kite, though maybe not today with those rough seas ahead.
Now, what’s on the menu for Saturday? More of the same! Occasional showers and a sprinkle of thunderstorms over Navua, Suva, Nausori, and their neighboring areas, plus a few extra clouds for dramatic flair. Those in low-lying areas, keep an oar handy—localized heavy downpours may make a splash.

Extra note for our friends in Rotuma: Watch out! A strong wind warning is in effect. Those northwesterly winds are determined to make waves—literally—so buckle up, stay dry, and keep an eye on those rough seas.
Overall, it’s shaping up to be quite the wet adventure—so keep those galoshes handy and stay tuned!
