Weather Update from the National Weather Forecasting Centre Nadi

Good morning, fellow weather-watchers! It’s the first day of February, and while love is in the air for some, it looks like we’ve got a big old trough of low pressure coming in to rain on those parades. So, grab your umbrellas; it’s about to get a bit wet!

Here’s what you can expect before midnight tonight across our beautiful Fiji group:

You might notice the sky looking a tad moody with cloudy spells and showers particularly over areas like Serua-Namosi, Navua-Suva-Nausori, Naitasiri-Tailevu North, and our lovely Ra-Rakiraki. If you happen to be in Cakaudrove or southern Bua province, don’t forget your raincoat! And, yes, Taveuni and the nearby islands are also in for some soggy surprises. On the bright side, elsewhere will be sparklingly fine, except for that cheeky chance of afternoon or evening showers crashing your beach party.

For some of you thrill-seekers out there, isolated thunderstorms might decide to pop up, especially over Viti Levu and Vanua Levu’s interior and northern parts. So, if you do see lightning, it’s best not to pretend you’re a superhero and stand in an open field.

Then we have a chance of heavy downpours, leading to localized flooding in those notoriously flood-prone areas. Remember, if the water starts rising, it’s best to seek higher ground—unless you fancy a new water sport sensation!

Looks like moderate southeast winds and seas will be your companion today, perfect for sailing… if you’re okay with the possibility of getting drenched.

Looking ahead to Monday, expect a repeat performance with the clouds continuing to perform their shower routine over the same locations. And yes, isolated thunderstorms might still be lurking around. If you’re in Navua, Suva, or Nausori, pack your rain boots just in case.

Here are the specifics for your area:

For Navua/Suva/Nausori: Cloudy with showers threatening to put a damper on things. Minimum of 24°C, maxing out at 32°C.

For Natadradave/Korovou: Same story—cloudy, with thunderstorms making an appearance. Temperatures cozy from 24°C to 32°C.

For Sigatoka/Coral Coast: You can expect some fine weather today, but those afternoon showers are taking a ticket for the ride! High of 31°C.

For Nadi/Lautoka/Ba: Get those shorts ready; it’ll be fine throughout the day, with some drizzle expected in the afternoon. Maximum joy at 33°C!

For the stunning Yasawa/Mamanuca group and nearby islands: Just like a good rom-com, enjoy the fine day interrupted by some dramatic evening showers. Warm enough at 33°C!

For Labasa: Enjoy some sun until those afternoon showers decide to join the party. High of 34°C—make sure to hydrate!

Our beautiful Taveuni and surrounding areas will experience a similar cloudy fate.

And let’s not forget Rotuma! With occasional thunderstorms and some fresh winds to ruffle your hair, temperatures will sit comfortably between 25°C and 30°C.

So, take the forecast as a gentle reminder that while love may be in the air this February, so is the rain! Stay dry where you can, and remember—a little rain never hurt anyone—but a thunderstorm might make you rethink your outdoor plans!
