Fiji Weather Bulletin: Cloudy Periods with Showers Across the Fiji Group and Moderate to Fresh Easterly Winds; Rotuma Strong Wind Warning in Force

Weather Update

Attention, weather enthusiasts and those just trying to plan a decent picnic! The latest forecast from the weather wizards at the National Weather Forecasting Centre in Nadi has some interesting and slightly amusing revelations for us. First up, an easterly wind is blowing through the country, making it feel like Mother Nature decided to switch on her fan and leave it blowing.

Now, that pesky trough of moisture lurking northeast of Fiji is planning a visit, set to make the easterlies a bit more humid starting later Saturday. So, pack some umbrellas and maybe a raincoat – or a swimsuit if you’re feeling daring!

For the weather across the beautiful Fiji group until tomorrow night, we’re looking at a mostly fine day with just a sprinkle of showers here and there. Specifically, if you’re in the interior or eastern regions of Macuata, Southern Bua, and Cakaudrove (including Taveuni and its charming little islands), you might notice a few raindrops. Viti Levu’s interior and eastern areas might also see brief showers, so keep your eyes peeled!

But don’t worry, elsewhere will be mainly fine – perfect for soaking up some sun! The easterly winds will be moderate to fresh, which is just another way of saying it’s a breeze, almost like you’re getting a gentle fan blow while sipping a coconut on the beach. Just be aware, the seas will be a bit rougher than usual, but they should calm down a bit later tonight.

Looking ahead to Saturday, expect some cloudy shenanigans with a few showers, mainly in those same interior and eastern sections. Everyone else, relax; you’re looking at fine weather with just the possibility of afternoon or evening showers and maybe a little drama from the thunder gods.

Now, here’s the nitty-gritty for the specific areas:

Navua / Suva / Nausori: Fine apart from brief showers. Tomorrow: Min: 24, Max: 30. Saturday outlook: Clouds and showers.

Sigatoka/Coral Coast: Mainly fine tomorrow with a Min: 22, Max: 31. Saturday might throw in a shower or two.

Nadi / Lautoka / Ba: Expect another lovely day! Tomorrow: Min: 23, Max: 34. Isolated showers Saturday.

Tavua/Rakiraki: Keep it sunny! Tomorrow: Min: 23, Max: 33. Saturday: More of the same – fingers crossed!

Natadradave/Korovou: A few brief showers, but nothing to ruin your day! Tomorrow: Min: 23, Max: 31.

Yasawa/Mamanuca: Mainly fine tomorrow with Min: 23, Max: 32. Saturday: Isolated showers might crash the party.

Labasa, Savusavu, Nabouwalu, Taveuni, Lau and Lomaiviti group: Expect mainly fine conditions with a few showers. Rain might make a small cameo!

Kadavu: Mostly fine with a Min of 22 and Max of 31 tomorrow, and rain may decide to drop by on Saturday.

And for our friends over in Rotuma: a strong wind warning is still in effect! Expect southeasterly winds, cloudy skies, and a few showers. Tomorrow: Min: 26, Max: 32.

So, there you have it—weather that’s as unpredictable as your friend who says they “won’t be late” for dinner! Keep those sunnies handy, and let’s hope for the best!
