A trough of low pressure combined with a moist northeast wind flow will keep much of Fiji cloudy with showers into the weekend, with frequent afternoon or evening thunderstorms and localized heavy falls possible in several areas.

Today, expect cloudy periods with some showers across parts of Viti Levu and the northern and eastern islands — including Navua‑Suva‑Nausori, Tailevu‑Naitasiri‑Ra, Rakiraki‑Tavua‑Ba, Vanua Levu, Taveuni, Lau, Lomaiviti, the Yasawa and Mamanuca groups, and Kadavu. Elsewhere conditions will be partly cloudy with afternoon or evening showers and thunderstorms, and localised heavy falls may lead to flash flooding in low‑lying and flood‑prone areas. Moderate northeasterly winds and moderate seas are expected.

Tomorrow and into Sunday the pattern will persist. Cloudy periods with some showers are likely over Serua‑Namosi, Navua‑Suva‑Nausori, Tailevu‑Naitasiri‑Ra, eastern Macuata, Cakaudrove, southern Bua, Taveuni, Lau, Lomaiviti and Kadavu, while other districts should be fine apart from afternoon or evening showers. Afternoon and evening thunderstorms with heavy falls are likely over Viti Levu and Vanua Levu. Winds will be moderate easterlies and seas generally moderate.

Local town forecasts are broadly similar: Navua, Suva and Nausori will see cloudy periods with some showers (min 25°C, max 32°C tomorrow and on Sunday). Nadi, Lautoka and Ba can expect afternoon or evening showers and thunderstorms with heavy falls (min 24°C, max around 33°C tomorrow). Sigatoka and the Coral Coast will have afternoon or evening showers and thunderstorms with heavy falls today, easing to mainly afternoon or evening activity tomorrow (min mid‑20s, max about 32°C). Labasa and Savusavu are expecting cloudy periods with some showers, with afternoon or evening storms possible at times; Taveuni, Yasawa/Mamanuca, Lau, Lomaiviti and Kadavu generally have cloudy periods with some showers and daytime peaks in the mid‑20s to low‑30s.

Rotuma remains under the influence of a trough and will experience cloudy periods with showers and isolated thunderstorms, with heavy falls possible. Winds there will be moderate to fresh easterlies and seas moderate to rough; temperatures are around 25–31°C with occasional showers and isolated thunderstorms expected into Sunday. Mariners and residents in low‑lying or flood‑prone locations should take care where heavy falls occur, and exercise caution on the water given the moderate to rough sea conditions at times.
