Weather Update: It’s Gonna Be a Wild Ride!
Attention all adventurers, weather enthusiasts, and anyone who paved the streets of Fiji – it looks like Mother Nature is throwing a tropical-themed party, and she’s invited a strong wind and heavy rain!
A strong wind warning is waving wildly over Vanua Levu, Taveuni, and those cheeky smaller islands, as well as the charismatic Northern Lau group. Hold onto your hats, folks – we’re expecting winds averaging up to 50 km/hr, with gusts strutting in at a staggering 70 km/hr. It’s like nature’s way of telling you that your beach umbrella doesn’t stand a chance.
And if you’re thinking of splashing around in the puddles, think again! A heavy rain warning has drenched the entire Fiji Group. So, put away your favorite pair of shoes; they’re bound to take a bath. Flash floods are also lurking around low-lying areas, so practice your lifeguard skills!
The mischief-maker, Tropical Depression TD03F, is making itself known, floating in at around 620 km west-northwest of Yasawa-i-Rara and planning its east-southeast drift towards us at about a not-so-leisurely 10 km/h. This means the rain bands are sticking around until Thursday, so keep your raincoats handy!
Tonight, expect fresh to strong northerly winds and those pesky rain bouts accompanied by the occasional thunderstorm – because who wouldn’t want a little drama overhead? Things will start easing up into showers tomorrow, so your sunbathing towel might just get a day off.
Now, let’s break down the local forecast for our beloved spots:
