Weather Update
Brought to you by the Forecast Wizards at the National Weather Forecasting Centre, Nadi
Hold onto your hats, folks! It’s a blustery day out there as a STRONG WIND WARNING remains in effect for the adventurous souls of Vanua Levu, Taveuni, and their tiny island buddies, as well as our northern Lau group friends. It looks like tropical depression TD03F decided to drift into town, lying at a cozy 510 km northwest of Yasawa I Rara and moving toward our beautiful Fiji Islands at a leisurely pace of 10 km/h.
In the short term, be prepared for the winds to kick up a fuss – we’re talking averages of up to 50 km/h, with gusts hitting a wild 70 km/h. Think of it as a free, uninvited hairdryer you can experience outside! Meanwhile, the sea will be feeling rough, so if you were planning to paddle your kayak, maybe hold that thought.
Rain? Oh, absolutely! Expect heavy rain that may turn into a dancing thunderstorm or two over Yasawa, Mamanuca, and plenty of other locales, which makes today the perfect excuse to don your cutest rain boots. The rain wants to stick around until tomorrow, too, but fear not—things should clear up as the day progresses.
Now, let’s roll into specifics for our various regions:
For Navua / Suva / Nausori: Rain is making its special guest appearance, complete with the potential for heavy falls and a thunderstorm finale. Temps will range from a cozy 23 to a sultry 28.
For Natadradave/Korovou: Those occasional rains and heavy falls will also be in attendance, so bring your umbrella! Min: 23, Max: 29.
For Sigatoka/Coral Coast: Occasional rain is on the bill, but it’ll clear up later. Min: 23, Max: 29.
For Nadi / Lautoka / Ba: Expect occasional rains and perhaps a heavy rumble or two in the distance. Min: 22, Max: 29.
For Tavua/Rakiraki: Load up on those raincoats, because it’s a heavy rain kind of day! Min: 23, Max: 29.
For Yasawa/Mamanuca: Heavy rain events are also coming to your neighborhood. Min: 23, Max: 29.
For Labasa and Savusavu: Get ready for fierce northerly winds and heavy rain! Min: 23, Max: 28.
For Taveuni: Expect rain that will have a thunderous backdrop; it’s the stormy drama! Min: 23, Max: 28.
For Kadavu: Occasional rain and thunderstorms are on the menu today, so don’t leave home without that umbrella! Min: 22, Max: 28.
Ah, and for our friends in Rotuma: The relentless rain and squally thunderstorms are in full swing with rough seas around. It’s the perfect recipe for a cozy indoor day. Min: 24, Max: 28.
With the glorious weather we’re having, stay safe, stay dry, and maybe keep a floatie handy for those unexpected puddles! Tomorrow’s forecast suggests things will calm down a bit, but we all know how quickly Fiji weather can change its mind!
