Weather Update: March 1, 2026

Speaking of winds, our friends in the Western Division, Yasawa, Mamanuca, Kadavu, and their smaller island buddies are experiencing strong northwesterly winds that could reach speeds of up to 75 km/hr. So, if you’ve ever wanted to know what it feels like to be a flying squirrel, today’s your lucky day!
And now, let’s tackle our charming tropical cyclone, URMIL. It decided to hang out about 480 kilometers southwest of Kadavu and tracks southeast. It seems to be showering some tough love in the western and southern areas, accompanied by its enthusiastic rainbands. So, if you’re looking for a reason to stay in and binge-watch while enjoying a cup of hot cocoa, you’ve found your excuse!
As for the rest of the Fiji Group, the forecast for today includes not just rain but periods of it — and yes, you guessed it — with occasional thunderstorms that might even make your dog raise an eyebrow. Expect average temperatures ranging from a cozy 25°C to 30°C, perfect for a hot shower after a drenching!
