Weather Scoop
Greetings from the National Weather Forecasting Centre, where the only thing more active than our forecast is our coffee intake!
Here’s the scoop for today, November 24, 2025: Strong wind alerts are blowing through the land areas of Macuata, Northern Bua, Cikobia, and a few of their smaller island buddies, plus Taveuni and its entourage, Lau, and Lomaiviti. So if you have any loose garden furniture, it might just decide to become a flying object!
And it’s not just wind we’re wrestling with—oh no! We’ve got a heavy rain warning for the entire Fiji Group. Yes, ladies and gentlemen, it’s time to bring out the umbrellas, raincoats, and perhaps a kayak if you live in particularly flood-prone areas.
A cheerful trough of low pressure is bringing along its cloud cover and persistent showers to keep the sky nice and overcast for the next couple of days. Strong northwesterly winds will be working up to about 45 km/hr (think of that picturesque hair-blowing moment—if only it weren’t so wet!).
On the forecast front, expect the following delightful weather:
For the Fiji Group until midnight tomorrow, we’ve got gusty northwesterly winds, heavy periods of rain accompanied by the occasional boom-boom of thunder. Perfect weather for staying indoors, getting cozy, and finally finishing that book you’ve been meaning to read (or binge-watching your favorite show).
Don’t forget, localized heavy downpours might create rivers where roads used to be, so keep an eye out if you live in low-lying areas!
Outlook for Wednesday? More rain, potential thunderstorms, and of course, those delightful temperatures ranging from a cool 23 degrees to a steamy 30—just enough to keep you guessing whether to wear shorts or a sweater!
Here’s a quick peek at what to expect in several areas:
– **For Navua / Suva / Nausori**: Periods of rain—heavy at times—may lead you to find out how fast your umbrella can flip inside out. Max today is a cooler 26, rising to a balmy 27 tomorrow.
