Strong Wind Warning
A strong wind warning remains in force for coastal land areas and nearby waters of Yasawa, Rakiraki, Nabouwalu, Udu Point, Taveuni and nearby smaller islands, Lau and Lomaiviti groups, Kadavu and nearby smaller islands, and Rotuma. Seas will be rough at times. If you’re heading out, batten down the hatches and hold onto your hat.
Situation
A trough of low pressure is slowly drifting over the eastern and northern parts of the group. Another trough is expected to develop and approach from the west later Monday. Expect cloud, showers and rain to affect most places through to Wednesday.
Forecast to midnight tomorrow for the Fiji group
– For coastal land areas of Yasawa, Rakiraki, Nabouwalu, Udu Point, Taveuni and nearby smaller islands, Lau and Lomaiviti group, Kadavu and nearby smaller islands:
East to southeast winds up to 45 km/h. Winds will gradually ease and become moderate to fresh east to northeasterly from tomorrow.
– For the rest of Fiji:
Moderate to fresh east to southeast winds becoming east to northeast from tomorrow.
Rough seas becoming moderate to rough seas from tomorrow.
Today
– Some showers over the Northern Division, Lau and Lomaiviti groups, Serua-Namosi, Navua-Suva-Nausori, Tailevu-Naitasiri-Ra, Kadavu and nearby smaller islands.
– Showers becoming frequent from tomorrow night.
– Localised heavy falls may cause flash flooding in low-lying areas.
– Fine elsewhere, though isolated afternoon or evening showers possible.
– Nighttime temperatures cool.
Tomorrow
– Occasional showers and possible thunderstorms over Northern Division, Lau and Lomaiviti groups, Serua-Namosi, Navua-Suva-Nausori, Tailevu-Naitasiri-Ra, Kadavu and nearby smaller islands.
– Showers becoming frequent and increasing to rain from later Tuesday.
– Cloudy periods with some showers and possible thunderstorms elsewhere.
– Cool at night.
Outlook for Tuesday
– Occasional rain and isolated thunderstorms in the Northern Division, Lau and Lomaiviti groups, Kadavu and nearby smaller islands, Serua-Namosi, Navua-Suva-Nausori, Tailevu-Naitasiri-Ra.
