Greetings, weather warriors! Hold on to your hats because the National Weather Forecasting Centre in Nadi has issued a strong wind warning for today, Monday, September 22, 2025. It’s going to be quite the breezy day across parts of Fiji, with winds strong enough to make even the coconut trees do a little hula!
In the Ra-Rakiraki, Southern Bua, Eastern Macuata, and all those groups with exciting names like Yasawa, Lau, and Lomaiviti, expect strong southeast winds gusting up to 45 km/h. If you happen to find your hat in another neighborhood, don’t be surprised. Elsewhere, the winds will be moderate to fresh, but don’t let that fool you—they’ll be gusty at times. Seas will be rough, so maybe skip the boat ride today unless you’ve always dreamed of becoming a professional surfer.
The Suva and Nausori area is in for some cloudy periods with light showers to provide a little spoiler for your outdoor Monday plans. Temperatures will tiptoe between a cozy 21°C to a respectable 28°C. At night, it’s going to be cool enough, so keep that extra blanket handy.
Nadi, Lautoka, and Ba are blessed with fine weather today with temperatures peaking at 30°C. But beware, a sneaky shower might make a cameo appearance in the afternoon or evening. The night will be the perfect time to let out a dramatic yawn and call it a day, with temperatures dipping to around 19°C.
Meanwhile, those in Rakiraki might experience a little shake, not stirred, with the breezy southeast winds combined with some showers, while elsewhere will enjoy sunny spells fit for a postcard. Don’t forget your hat—again. Temperatures should hang around a comfortable 28°C.
Yasawa, still under the sway of those southeast gusts, will enjoy clear skies and the odd cloud for company. Make sure to tuck in smartly at night, as it will be a cool one with temperatures frolicking between 19°C and 31°C.
Taveuni, Kadavu, and other charmingly small islands will also join the gusty wind club, with some showers thrown in for dramatic flair. It’s going to be cool, so sip some hot cocoa and maybe spend the night stargazing until your slippers come calling.
Rotuma, you’re in for a bit of a wet fiesta, thanks to a trough of low pressure inviting some not-so-friendly weather guests. Expect thunderstorms and cheeky showers to drop by, with winds slowly easing their grip. The temperature here will linger around a balmy 24°C to 29°C, perfect weather for staying indoors and binge-watching your favorite show.
So, tighten your kites and secure any wandering umbrellas because it’s time to face Fiji’s flirtatious winds! And as always, stay safe and keep an eye on those skies.
