Issued from the National Weather Forecasting Centre Nadi at 3:30 PM on Tuesday, October 21, 2025

Buckle up, folks! A STRONG WIND WARNING is still blowing in from the east, especially for those living along the coastal areas of Kadavu, Viti Levu, Taveuni, Vanua Levu, and those smaller islands that often get forgotten. Expect some seriously gusty easterly winds whipping through at speeds of up to 45 km/hr. It’s a good time to hold onto your hats—literally!

The situation is all thanks to a lazy trough of low pressure, just hanging out to the east of Fiji. This trough comes with a gift bag of clouds and rain, which will continue to send a few raindrops our way for the next few days while our friendly easterly winds keep things breezy.

So, what’s the forecast for the rest of the day and into tomorrow? Prepare for fresh gusts throughout the eastern regions and expect rain with the possibility of isolated thunderstorms. If you’re planning any outdoor activities, make sure your umbrella is nearby and take heed of those heavy falls. You might also want to keep an eye on flash floods—those low-lying areas might just turn into an unexpected swimming pool!

As we approach Thursday, expect cloudier skies with a mixture of showers and maybe a thunderstorm or two. Central and eastern Viti Levu will really get in on the action, so don’t be surprised if you find yourself packing a raincoat!
