Fiji Weather Alert: Heavy Rain Warning Across Fiji Group and Strong Wind Warnings for Macuata, Taveuni, Lau, Lomaiviti and Rotuma with Flash Flood Risk

Weather Alert

Issued from the National Weather Forecasting Centre Nadi at 3:30 PM on Monday, November 24, 2025

Grab your umbrellas and hold onto your hats, folks! A STRONG WIND WARNING is still blowing through Macuata, Northern Bua, Cikobia, Taveuni, the Lau and Lomaiviti groups, and their smaller neighbors. If you thought your blow-dry was impressive, wait until you see the winds trying to style your hair today!

But that’s not all – we’re also under a HEAVY RAIN WARNING for the entire Fiji Group. Yes, that’s right! A deluge of raindrops is on the way, so if you see ducks stocking up on supplies, it’s probably a good idea to join them.

What’s the scoop? An active trough of low pressure has decided to pay us a visit, bringing along showers and rain as unwelcome guests for the next few days. Expect strong northwesterly winds that could flirt with speeds of 45 km/hr and gusts that might knock over a small dog: 55 km/hr. Just be careful not to get blown over while trying to catch your bus!

Here’s the forecast:
– For tonight and into tomorrow, brace for some surprises as those winds will ease from fierce to moderately fresh come tomorrow.
– Don’t forget about the rain – occasional heavy spells, possible thunderstorms, and a side of flash flooding in low-lying areas. It’s like nature’s way of reminding us to stay off the road!
– Good news! Rain is expected to chill out a bit over the Western Division from later today.

Wednesday’s Outlook:
– Expect occasional showers and isolated thunderstorms rolling through. Let’s just say Mother Nature seems to be feeling dramatic lately.
– So grab that raincoat or maybe a life jacket if the dark clouds keep looking so ominous!

So stay dry and safe, and if you can, embrace the rain with a good pair of gumboots. At least you’ll be in fashion!
