Attention, Fiji! Grab your umbrellas and galoshes because we have a heavy rain alert floating around like a duck in a puddle. That’s right, the entire Fiji group is preparing for a slight soaking!

What’s happening? A rather sluggish trough of low pressure is lounging over us and is expected to gather steam by tomorrow. This means our skies are going to be filled with clouds and rain, and perhaps a bit of a dramatic thunderstorm performance over the next few days.

As for today’s forecast until midnight: Get ready for occasional rain—heavy at times, and don’t be surprised if a few thunderstorms decide to make an appearance. The winds will be whispering sweet nothings from the southeast to northeast, intensifying at times, while those seas get rather playful, ranging from moderate to rough.

Tuesday’s Outlook: I hope you’re ready for the wet and wild edition of weather! We’re in for occasional rains that will seemingly be heavy enough to audition for a role in a soap opera, particularly over Navua, Suva, Nausori, Serua, Namosi, Tailevu North, Naitasiri, Ra, the Northern Division, and our charming Kadavu and nearby smaller islands, as well as the Lau and Lomaiviti groups.

Elsewhere, be prepared for occasional showers and the odd rumbly thunderstorm. By later in the day, those showers will be making an entrance and turning into a full-blown rain party. Expect heavy downpours that could lead to some flash floods in those low-lying areas where water seems to gather faster than you can say “Oh no, my shoes!”

Now, let’s dive into the specifics for a few select locations:

In Navua, Suva, and Nausori: Expect occasional rain, heavy at times, plus a sprinkle of thunderstorms. Temperature’ll be cozy between 24 to 30 degrees, perfect for splashing in a puddle or two.

Natadradave/Korovou: Similar rain pleasures will be here, with a slight chance of thunder to jazz things up. Feels like a tropical summer day with a range of 24 to 30 degrees.

Sigatoka/Coral Coast: Get ready for another drenching with occasional rain and those lovely thunderstorms. Expect temps between 23 and 30 degrees, so don’t forget to bring your best raincoat!

Nadi, Lautoka, Ba, Tavua, and Rakiraki: You guessed it – it’s rain, rain, and a bit more rain with occasional thunderstorms. Let’s keep it mind-numbingly consistent at 23 to 30 degrees.

For Yasawa/Mamanuca: Prepare for rain and a chance of thunderstorms, but hey, who doesn’t love a good surprise? Temps will be between 23 and 31 degrees.

Meanwhile, in Labasa, Savusavu, Nabouwalu, and Taveuni, the rain is joining the chorus as well. Expect pleasant temps with highs around 30 to 31 degrees, giving you the perfect excuse to stay indoors and enjoy a cozy day.

Lau and Lomaiviti group, plus Kadavu: You guessed it, rain with a side of thunderstorms! The temperature is a tropical 24 to 30 degrees, so let’s keep the umbrellas handy.

Lastly, if you’re in Rotuma, get ready for the moist northeastern winds delivering clouds, showers, and the party crashers known as thunderstorms. Expect a warm 25 to 31 degrees.

So, remember, Fiji, whether you’re dancing in the rain or just dodging downpours on your way to work, it’s bound to be an exciting day! Stay safe and dry out there!
