Fiji Weather Alert: Heavy Rain in Eastern Viti Levu and Surrounding Islands with Strong Southeast Winds and Flood Risk

Weather Update

Greetings, planet Earthlings and weather aficionados! This is your friendly National Weather Forecasting Centre here, brightening your evening with a delightful drizzle of weather updates!

From our crystal ball (or maybe just our high-tech radar), we have some intriguing predictions for you. First off, a HEAVY RAIN ALERT is still strutting its stuff for the eastern half of Viti Levu, including the illustrious Serua-Namosi, Navua-Suva-Nausori, Tailevu-Naitasiri-Ra, as well as the charming Southern Bua and Cakaudrove. Don’t forget the smaller islands that love to hang out nearby, as well as Lau and Lomaiviti groups, and of course, the party on Kadavu! You might want to grab your flotation device or at least your galoshes.

Now, let’s talk winds. A STRONG WIND WARNING is also blowing through for the ever-so-wind-swept land areas of the Lau and Lomaiviti groups, Kadavu, and Taveuni, where winds could be tossing your hat off at speeds up to 45 km/hr. So, if you see a toupee flying by, it might just belong to a local!

What’s causing all this atmospheric excitement? Well, we have a nice, moist southeasterly wind flow loving Fiji, and an active trough of low pressure is expected to drop by the eastern parts this Saturday. Let’s hope it brings snacks!

Now, what should you expect before the midnight chime? We can anticipate cloudy periods with some showers – think of it as nature’s way of giving your car a wash! Heavy downpours might surprise us in the usual spots: Serua-Namosi, Navua-Suva-Nausori, and friends. And heads up, localized heavy rains could lead to some flash flooding of low-lying areas. You might want to consider building an ark.

For those of you in other parts, it’s mostly fine, except for those cheeky afternoon or evening showers and the possibility of thunderstorms. Yes, nothing spices up a dinner party like a good thunderstorm!

Let’s take a peek at tomorrow’s forecast across our fine regions:

– **Navua / Suva / Nausori:** Expect some cloudiness with a side of showers and isolated heavy falls. It’s like a weather buffet! Tomorrow’s min: 23, max: 30.

– **Sigatoka / Coral Coast:** Fine, but those afternoon showers will poke their heads in. Tomorrow’s min: 23, max: 30.

– **Nadi / Lautoka / Ba:** A little slice of sunshine, save for some sprinkles later in the day. Tomorrow’s min: 23, max: 32.

– **Tavua / Rakiraki:** Cloudy spells, but fine elsewhere – so it’s perfect for a game of hide and seek with the rain! Tomorrow’s min: 23, max: 32.

– **Labasa:** Stick to your plan – it’s mostly fine, with some warm rain visiting in the evenings. Tomorrow’s min: 23, max: 33.

– **Savusavu:** Expect clouds and potential downpours, just like your favorite TV drama! Tomorrow’s min: 23, max: 30.

And so it goes for other regions where you can prepare for varying degrees of cloudiness, showers, and the occasional thunderous clap from the sky demanding your attention!

To wrap things up, buckle up for a blustery weekend ahead! Stay dry, keep your spirits high, and remember – umbrellas make fantastic statement pieces too!
