Hold onto your umbrellas; we’ve got a serious case of the soggy blues! A HEAVY RAIN ALERT is still doing its party tricks over the Northern Division, Lau and Lomaiviti groups, as well as Kadavu and their tiny, wet buddies. The eastern interior of Viti Levu isn’t much drier either. If you’re anywhere from Momi to Navua-Suva-Nausori and out to Rakiraki, get ready for a drenching!

What’s happening, you ask? An active trough of low pressure is stretching its arms across Fiji, showering us with clouds and rain that seem to be on a slow pilgrimage to the east. Expect the wetness to continue, but don’t worry, it should transition from a torrential downpour to mere showers later in the day. Just remember your floaties if you’re in flood-prone areas!

Here’s what to expect ’til midnight tonight across the Fiji group: Some sporadic rain and the occasional thunderstorm are likely to target the Northern Division, Lau, Lomaiviti, Kadavu, and those other smaller islands. If you were planning on a picturesque sunset, you might have to settle for a cozy blanket and hot cocoa instead!

Elsewhere, cloudiness might confuse you into thinking it’s a calm day, but keep your raincoat handy, as showers could pop up with their own surprise thunderstorms. Winds are moderate but persistent, so hold on to your hats—unless you want them to fly away!

Now, what’s in store for Friday? More of the same, at least in spots that seem to really enjoy a good rain party! Occasional heavyweight showers are predicted for the Northern Division, Taveuni, and the Lau and Lomaiviti groups. In the eastern half of Viti Levu, you’ll have some cloudy moments along with showers and isolated thunderstorms, while other areas might just sneak by with a mostly fine day—complete with a chance of an afternoon shower or two.

Here’s the forecast in a nutshell for some select places:

For Navua / Suva / Nausori: Expect occasional rain and limited thunder activity, gradually easing to showers. Min: 24, Max: 29.
For Natadradave/Korovou: Same story—cloudy with rain easing to showers later. Min: 24, Max: 29.
For Coral Coast: Occasional rain with a few thunderstorms, settling down to showers. Min: 24, Max: 30.
For Nadi / Lautoka / Ba: It’s a cloudy day with showers and possible thunder items joining the mix. Min: 23, Max: 32.
For Tavua/Rakiraki: Similar vibes—cloudy with showers. Min: 23, Max: 31.
For Yasawa/Mamanuca group: More cloudiness, showers, and thunder. Min: 23, Max: 31.

And don’t forget our beloved friends in Rotuma! They are under a HEAVY RAIN ALERT—get ready for some serious downpour and gusty winds. Min: 25, Max: 30.

In conclusion, it looks like we’ll be channeling our inner rain dancer for a little while longer, with plenty of clouds and liquid sunshine to keep us entertained. So, grab those waterproof shoes, and let’s make a splash!
