Weather Bulletin
Brought to you by the National Weather Forecasting Centre in Nadi, at the crack of dawn on this fine Friday, February 27, 2026.
Hold onto your umbrellas, folks! A HEAVY RAIN ALERT is still waving its arms wildly, and this time it’s focusing on the Western Division and our dear Kadavu. For those keen on gripping details, check out the Special Weather Bulletin for Heavy Rain. It’s a real page-turner!
While the weather’s slacking around Fiji, a trough of low pressure has decided to loiter over our beautiful islands, bringing along its cloud and showers like an unwanted guest who won’t leave. As if that’s not enough, we also have a moist wind from the north-northeast blowing in, like it’s just come from a steam room.
So what should you expect until midnight? Well, prepare for occasional showers with the chance of heavy falls—surprise!—along with thunderstorms wanting to join in on the fun over the Western Division, Interior and Eastern parts of the larger islands. This includes our lovely Navua-Suva-Nausori, Tailevu-Naitasiri, the charming Macuata, and more. Meanwhile, everywhere else, expect a bit of cloud with a chance of afternoon or evening showers and some cheeky thunderstorms. Don’t forget, localised heavy rain could lead to a flash flood. If you live in a low-lying area, consider making some sand castles before the tide rolls in!
As for the winds, they’ll be moderate from the north to northeast, but fresh at times, perhaps making you question if you should take your sunglasses or a windbreaker when you step outside. Sea conditions? Moderate to rough—so if you’re heading out, hang on tight!
Now, let’s peek into Saturday’s forecast:
Oh boy, the rain is pulling an encore! The Western Division will continue to enjoy occasional to pretty heavy rain along with some thunderstorms making guest appearances. Expect moderate to strong winds whipping about at speeds of 40 km/hr with gusts reaching 60 km/hr—definitely not a day for your hairdo! The seas will be rough and very rough; a bit like navigating through a bowl of soup, really. There will be reminders of heavy rain in Macuata, Northern Bua, Kadavu, Lomaiviti, and Lau groups, so make sure you have your flotation devices handy! Elsewhere, cloudy conditions will serve up some afternoon or evening showers and thunderstorms.
A quick rundown of the local weather for specific areas:
For Navua / Suva / Nausori: Showers are on the agenda, with a minimum of 25°C and a maximum of 30°C—perfect to practice your water ballet!
For Sigatoka/Coral Coast: Expect those same lovely showers and temperatures ranging from 25°C to 30°C—not too hot to handle!
For Nadi / Lautoka / Ba: Showers with a kick—min 25°C, max 30°C. Keep that swimwear handy!
And for the lovely islands of Yasawa and Mamanuca, you’ll follow suit with occasional showers, and temperatures hanging around 25°C to 30°C.
In the enchanting land of Labasa and Savusavu, the forecast looks similar, with a minimum of 25°C and a maximum of 30°C!
As we shuffle along to Taveuni and Rotuma, the showers and thunderstorms are also in the mix there!
In summary, grab your gumboots, a good book, and maybe even some snacks, because this weekend looks like one to hunker down! And remember, if you hear thunder, it’s just Mother Nature reminding you who’s boss!
