Weather Update – Fiji Style
Issued from the National Weather Forecasting Center Nadi at 10:50 AM on Tuesday, March 3, 2026. Buckle up, folks, because the clouds are throwing a rain party, and you’re invited!
A HEAVY RAIN WARNING is still in effect for the entire Fiji group – think of it as Mother Nature’s way of reminding us to check our umbrellas. If you need more details, you can find the Special Weather Bulletin for Heavy Rain at https://www.met.gov.fj/alerts (don’t forget your lifebuoy).
We’re also under a FLASH FLOOD WARNING for all of Viti Levu, which sounds a bit like an extreme water park attraction, but I assure you it’s not as fun. If you live in any low-lying areas near the Nakauvadra River, Naseyani at Yaqara River, Tavua River, or the flood plains of the Ba River, it’s best to keep an eye on those raindrops – they’re in a hurry to make a splash!
The forecast shows that an active trough of low pressure is on the guest list, meaning occasional to heavy rain will rain down on us, along with a few thunderstorms to keep things spicy. Get ready for rain to ease up gradually starting tomorrow, but you might want to hold on to those rain boots just in case!
Here’s what’s on the menu until midnight tomorrow for the Fiji group: occasional rain (with some hefty downpours), thunderstorms, and an invitation for moderate northwesterly winds that could get a little gusty at times. Seas? Not so smooth – expect them to be moderate to rough.
Looking ahead to Thursday, it seems the clouds will play peek-a-boo with showers over regions like Navua, interior Serua-Namosi, Suva, Naitasiri, and more. Find your fine side; it might be hiding among isolated afternoon or evening showers. Keep an eye out for isolated thunderstorms that may land some heavy hits—especially on Viti Levu and Vanua Levu!
Specifics for Kilalo-t-City (a.k.a. Navua/Suva/Nausori):
Get your rain gear ready because occasional rain will be crashing the party, along with a few surprise thunderclaps. But don’t worry, it’s expected to clear up slowly. Temperature range: Min 25°C, Max 30°C, perfect for those quick jogs to your car.
Thursday’s forecast? More clouds, more showers, and maybe some electric boogie from the thunderstorms. You’re looking at a Min of 24°C and a Max of 31°C.
For our various visitors around Fiji—be it from Natadradave/Korovou, Tavua/Rakiraki, or the far-flung Yasawa/Mamanuca group—the weather seems to be on the rainy side for now, but the sun might just peek out after tomorrow! Keep those cheery vibes; the temperature is hanging firm between 25°C and 30°C.
And over in Rotuma, where a HEAVY RAIN ALERT is also in play, preparation is key. Moderate to fresh winds might whip up some waves, but we can say the forecast looks like a movie trailer for “The Rain Chronicles.”
So, chic umbrellas at the ready – the weather in Fiji is throwing quite the unpredictable mix!
